? My advise, if someone told you good things about rigid and ryobi than don't listen to their advise anymore.

Not really cheaper, but I have the Makita 18V drill/driver set, and they are a couple of little beasts. The little 1/4" impact drivers are great tools to have around the house.

I have a bit of a dilemma that I am hoping for some advise on. I have a V18 Milwaukee hammer drill and impact driver set. After 2.5 yrs of abuse the batteries finally shit the bed. Milwaukee is offering a "prorated" price of $143 shipped for two new batteries. My first thought was screw them, I can go to HD and get a new dewalt/milwaukee/mikita drill/driver & impact for $199 on sale. I started looking and the $199 deals are not a hammer drill and do not have quite as much torque. To get something comparable I am looking at around $300. Am I dumb to shell out $150 on two new batteries that have a 90 day warranty on them?

Where are you seeing them for $80?
I can only find them for $110-120 each? Milwaukee 48-11-1830 V18 18-Volt 3.0 Amp Hour Lithium-Ion Slide Style Battery |

![]() I guess you'd have to ask yourself how much you love the tools. Seems like all the "V" series is an obsolete platform now in Milwaukee's eyes, and apparently the M batteries don't interchange in the 18 volt stuff from what I've read here? That said, new kits aren't cheap. So, if you could get two new batteries for $150 and they bought you a few years (we'd hope) it's worth it.

I buy the off-brand batteries for my makita stuff cheaper than rebuilding the ones I have. I've had better luck overall.
edit: better luck buying off-brand batteries than rebuilding my current ones, that is.

i have the Makita 18v stuff and recently bought the bare tool for the metal cutting circular saw and that thing is sweet. but I still use Milwaukee corded drill for 1/2 up holes in steel and such as the 18v drills just don't have the ass to keep up. For the sawzall and impact, I never use the corded versions any more. Grinders, cord or air all the way

I have Milwaukee corded stuff... I let the magic smoke out of a 60 plus year old Milwaukee sawzall that my uncle (plumber) passed down to my dad (electrician/ plumber / hvac) then to me (DIY / hack) and let me tell you they folks at Milwaukee were top notch in helping me get replacement parts... next cordless will be Milwaukee based alone of longevity and customer service....
