Proper 4x4 Jacstands!

Ok I searched in the search and advanced search but as you could imagine when you punch in jack stands about a million posts come up! So I'm about to go buy some angle iron and use some old steel junk rims to try and fab up some proper tall jackstand stands.

Post up some pics of what you guys use.

I find the 6 ton ones do all the supporting i need .

If you need to get higher think about a lift they are a whole lot cheaper now then even 10 years ago.

If you figure your hourly rate what you could be billing it is far cheaper to just go buy then spend several hours making them.

I use 4"x4"x2' blocking. A stack at a rear crossmember and another at the front, then a whole bunch of smaller stuff to lift up the bottle jack that is doing the lifting. It works it is stable and it is as tall as you want.

The H/F 12 tonners are pretty damn awesome! They pull double duty around here on lifted pickups and heavy equipment.

LOL, I was thinking I've seen MULTIPLE threads on this, it can't be that hard to filter thru some results for "stand, jack and jackstand" in this forum only.

If you were following the last " what gun should I get my wife" In the OSR forum, Followed by the " and the band hammer falls" thread in GCC you would realize Camo will ban you for such an observations.

I even got a chuckle on that one.

I have the HF ones but there not tall enough when I'm doing suspension mods. I need to lift the truck up high enough to mock the axles. My LWS has the ones that roarksupply posted, I never would have thought they would work for car/trucks though. Thanks, hmmmm now where did I put that Donkey Dick?

They are actually for pipe fitters but an axle tube is pretty much a pipe so it works. My guy got the tall ones, 53" max i think. They had the rig on the lift and wanted to disco the axle for mods but not completely separate from the vehicle.

I know they did some Pirate-Style mods to the stands but I haven't seen it yet.

I bought the Ridgid brand ones from Grainger for about $75 each. They were awesome as jackstands! IIRC, Home Depot doesn't have them in the store.
