Proper 4x4 Jacstands!
Ok I searched in the search and advanced search but as you could imagine when you punch in jack stands about a million posts come up! So I'm about to go buy some angle iron and use some old steel junk rims to try and fab up some proper tall jackstand stands.
Post up some pics of what you guys use. |

meh, they are more than $40 but worth every penny.
i like the 12t conventional stands. 30" reach. wide foot print, heavy gauge base.

I find the 6 ton ones do all the supporting i need .
If you need to get higher think about a lift they are a whole lot cheaper now then even 10 years ago. If you figure your hourly rate what you could be billing it is far cheaper to just go buy then spend several hours making them. |

I use 4"x4"x2' blocking. A stack at a rear crossmember and another at the front, then a whole bunch of smaller stuff to lift up the bottle jack that is doing the lifting. It works it is stable and it is as tall as you want.

I even got a chuckle on that one. I have the HF ones but there not tall enough when I'm doing suspension mods. I need to lift the truck up high enough to mock the axles. My LWS has the ones that roarksupply posted, I never would have thought they would work for car/trucks though. Thanks, hmmmm now where did I put that Donkey Dick?
