Longevity plasma tig stick

Will the tig on this unit be adequate for my 2" .5 wall chromo links? I have never Tig welded, and am thinking this might be a nice unit for me. I am starting a buggy project, and am thinking this may be a good addition to the shop if the tig is good enough. (I already have an A/C stick welder, and a Millermatic 210 mig)

Here is the linkhttp://www.longevity-inc.com/product...ldMax-164i.phpWhat do you think? If I practice will the unit handle my .5 wall chromo links without issue?

If you've never TIG welded I sure wouldn't TIG weld links as your first couple projects

No, I do plan on getting some practice first, I was just wondering if the machine was capable of the job....

Nobody? Really? Guess I'll just play it safe, and buy a Hypertherm.

I have no experience with that unit, but I don't think 160 amps is sufficient for 1/2". I have a 165 amp inverter machine and would consider 1/4" to be the max for full penetration. (Insert small penis joke here ) Also be aware that a lot of the combo TIG machines have scratch or lift start rather than HF and no provisions for a foot pedal, which in my mind makes it less than a true tig machine, like using a Dremel with a cut off wheel rather than a 4.5" grinder with one...

Mine has HF start and foot pedal capability, but even with that it is still very lacking by not having pulse and AC ability, so I am still going to have to replace it eventually.

You can weld 1/2" with way less that 165 amps. You just bevel and run multiple passes. The specs on that machine look decent, but I can't speak to the quality. For me though I wouldn't buy a tig that didn't have ac and high freq, so I could weld aluminum.

Yea, I know it doesn't Tig, or arc weld, but those were just an bonus for me. I have a friend who can Tig weld my links if need be.

Thanks for the info.
