Adapter says it works with the Hobart Handler 175, and I'm under the impression that the handler and miller are the same machine, just a different color...
I don't know if that spool gun would work with your welder, but have you ever tried to weld aluminum with a mig? I bought a spool gun for my lincoln 255 because I wanted to weld aluminum. I spent several hours trying to run a bead on some plate that was about 1/32". I either could not get it to run a bead, or it burnt through. I have run a decent weld on some 1/8" aluminum, but nothing thin. I don't know which part of the boat you are thinking about welding, but you may end up making a mess out of it.
No I sure haven't. I don't think I would try anythig thinner than 1/8". I was thinking more the ability to make a brackt or tab, I'm sure as hell not going to weld on the hull.
I know Al is tricky, but I'm down to figure it out.
Your best bet is to call the vendor for the adapter see what they say. They do claim your installing this at your own risk so if you fry your welder it is on your nickel
Yeah, just suprised no one has tried it. Not sure I see the risk in 'frying' the welder, from what I can see it's just diverting the trigger, so the internal feed motor doesn't run.
