I use my dad's old snapon ph50D, it seems to work fine.

Could probably find one in a pawn shop for $50 if you said the right stuff to the guy at the register.

Most important thing is to get a long barrel air hammer(2and 3-4 to 3 inch stroke).Snap on 2050 is the best .401 shank hammer around, but the Chicago Pneumatic long barrel is pretty good for the money. The short barrel ones are only good for chipping slag in a groove.

I have the Snap-On 2050 and like it. I have a heavy truck mechanic buddy that when someone says air hammer he says CP717.
Claims to drive truck (as in semi tractor truck) king pins out with them.

That Cp 717 is a badass air hammer but it uses .498 shank tools. I would love to have one but they are like 6-700 bucks and chisels are pretty expensive for them also.

Agreed, they kick ass and have the price tag to show it. A fella I worked with a few years back had one for doing kinpin's on big trucks. He also used to drive balljoints out with it.

FWIW the snap on ph3050 is a awesome air hammer. Mine gets used frequently and really is the best thing I have used besides the CP717.

If you have the big cp hammer check out gray pneumatic for the .498 bits. Still more expensive but not so bad.
