Unreasonable to have Sears warranty my Air compressor

I was given the 30 gallon compressor as a gift 2 year ago. The compressor holds a 2 year manufactures warranty on it, I have now had for about 25 months.
The piston has seised.
Sears is not willing to do anything for me.
Personally I believe an Air compressor used at a residential should last 5 years.
Sears is also a Satisfaction Granutee company, but will not back this up, saying I am unreasonable in my request for them to replace it.
I am currently holding on their hotline to get this resolved.
What do you think, should they replace it? or am i just out the 400$ because i bought an inferior product.

If you felt that a compressor should last longer than two years then you should have found a compressor with a longer warranty....

they wouldn't even warranty the gear wrench I bought from there, I had to go to Napa who swapped it no questions asked

Sears could careless about quality of there products. The fact that Ryboi makes there power tools proves this fact!

I had a very long and painful bout with Sears over my compressor.
they don't warranty theier power tools worth a shit and they dont' give a rat's ass about you after you give them money.

all I aver got after MONTHS of battle was a crappy coupon of my next sears purchase.

I'll never buy another sears power tool again. I still buy the hand tools becuase I love smashin the shit out of them and making them git me a new one.

In all fairness, I was told that they would not warranty Gear Wrenches......the manufacturer has to do it. They sell their own gear wrenches that you can warranty at the store

when I bought the set this wasn't the case though, and they didn't have their own brand or I probably would have bought it. Napa is closer to me though, so no big deal

If Napa can swap em I see no reason Sears can't except that they want you to buy their own brand..

Lowed nad HD carry the new cambell hausfield HD oiled cast iorn compressor line with a a 5yr warranty. best I could find.

It's not unreasonable at all. You should get AT LEAST 5 years out of that unit. 25 months is just crap!

You can always borrow my old iron lung if you need it (if you can lift it)

I've been through this with a radial arm saw I bought new myself. The motor burned up after 1 year and two weeks. 1 year warranty. Crappy products.

I bought a table saw from them when I got out of college. Their top of the line model. Piece of crap table was warped by 52 thousandths across the blade. It cut curves really well but couldn't hold a straight line. Their tech department said 100 thousandths was in spec and it met their quality standards. No refund, no replacement.

Since 1992 every new power tool I buy I take a picture of and send in to one of their vice presidents in Chicago. "here's another tool purchase you lost because of poor quality and even worse customer service"

So far:

Delta Unisaw
Delta 14" bandsaw
Delta 16" drill press
Powermatic cabinet shaper
Powermatic planer

Sears is resting on the name it built in the early 1900's. I take my business to companies that care about the quality of the machines they make.

Ok, They just called, They are going to price out a new motor for me, then they said will nagoicate with me for the price.
I feel I should not have to pay over 50$ for this. (we all know thats not going to happen)
But who knows, all it took was a call to the VP to get this far.
Its just a sad day when I feel I have to go to this level to get what I feel is right.
If they offered this option to me at the store last night (I was there for 2 hours) iw ould of been happy.
But lets see how this going to pan out

Your lucky then... 2 year warranty is a 2 year warranty... from date of purchase.

I liken Sears/Craftsman to Harbor Freight anymore. they sell good tools, as long as none of them have moving parts.

Have you tried to contact DeVillbiss? They are the manufacturer for many of their oilless compressors for Sears.

When it comes to sears/craftsman products, I try to deal with my local OSH store. They are owned by Sears but offer much better customer service. I accidently dropped a craftsman drill and broke the battery pack retainer. I took it to Sears and they started giving me a hard time, so I just drove over to OSH. They ordered me up the part, no other questions asked.

Ok, They said they can put a motor on it (cost is 275 for the motor) they will pay half.

Or She will give me 1/2 price on the black compressor

If anyone thinks this has been easy your are wrong, I may have bad typing but have been in Customer Service managment for close to 4 years.

BTW going to go to Lowes and see what they have on sale.
