What are you looking to do with it? Just pull codes? What vehicles, years, etc. I work in a buick pontiac gmc shop, so I get to use the Tech 2, and if youre working on newer stuff, a scan tool that can communicate and interact with all the modules on the data bus is pretty essential.

I have used a Snap-On MODIS, and was pretty impressed, except with the stupid excuse for a thumbwheel. But it was cool having the scanner, lab scope, and multimeter all buit into one backlit, full color display unit, with the provision for the 5 gas analyzer.

Before I started working in a Saab/Cadillac/Hummer and had access to the Tech2 I used a PDA for my OBDII scan tool, it works pretty well. It's now relegated to loaner status in the shop.

I have the OTTOSCAN, it's more expensive than some on the market but I like Baum tools.

Oh yeah, I dont think that any aftermarket company has made an acceptable substitute for the Candi box which is required to communicate on the GMLAN/New Saab Databus
