New tech in Miller migs?

I have the extreme displeasure of working for a know it all asshat for the next few months. The only mig he has on site is called a L Tech prestolite, what a POS. He keeps yacking about this new Miller mig he is supposed to be buying us and keeps talking in the vaguest of terms about some kind of special pulse technology that allows distorsion free welding on sheetmetal and all kinds of other magical shit. He says the unit retails for around 2200 bucks. I have a Lincoln Powermig 255.

Can you enlighten me as to weather he is totally full of shit, or if the Miller retailing for around 2200 has more features than my Lincoln? I really don't want to get into a big Blue vs Red argument over this, just want to once again confirm my suspicions that he is full of bad wind

On a side note does anyone know of a cheaper way into a spoolgun for my unit than the Prince XL?

I'm sure he's referring to the Miller 350P.

It is bad ass. The older Millers like mine had a stitch and spot mode. This helped reduce heat and distortion on thin materials. All it was is pulse the 24v signal, stopping both the wire feed and arc for set amounts of time.

The new pulsing is inverter based. It pulses the voltage between set values.

What this helps you do is of course reduce distortion on thinner materials.

More significantly, it allows you to do spray transfer at various positions. I have read one review of it and it's apparently everything and more.

I have the same welder and I am pretty sure that the only spoolgun is the Prince for this model. I have used one and it is a decent gun. Pretty damn spendy though.

As far as the miller stuff goes, The local welding school here just got a whole shitpile of new gear and some of it was that new pulse tech stuff susposedly or at least that term sounds familiar anyways. I did not get a chance to use any of it and my knowledge of it is very limited. I do know that the price tag on the gear that they got was quite a bit more than $2200.

Here are a couple of links. I don't believe this qualifies as cross-posting
