bendtech help

I'm trying the demo of the Bendtech software. I've got my part drawn, but I don't understand the rotation numbers. How do I apply those numbers when making the part? I don't understand the rotation on the first bend, you start with a straight piece of tube so what is the rotation relative to? Here is a screen shot of my part

Send a message via AIM to bluesman2a
email (bluesman2a@hotmail.com) me all three screens so I can replicate your part on my machine. Also in short, explain basically what you are trying to do. I'll try to help... Rotational on bend-tech can be a bear to figure out the first time.

Here is the other screen, it only goes through 2 screens when I do it, what is the third? The part is a cage hoop that goes straight up from the floor, bends in and back at the bottom of the windshield, then bends straight back at the top of the windshield, and then bends down at the B-pillar to angle back to the floor. The only complicated part is the compound bend at the bottom of the windshield and the rotation at the top of the windshield.

I can help with the rotation. The first rotation of 146.6 can be totally ignored. This is not used and is taken out in later releases.

1) Bend the part starting at bend 1 and continue by pushing the tube through the bender (do not flip the tube end for end).
2) rotate the tube 35 degrees. Depending on your settings this will be clockwise or counter clockwise. The rotation amount is the amount of rotation from the previous bend.
3) Bend the 2nd bend and continue pushing through the bender.
4) Now rotate the tube the oppisite direction 11 degrees. Again this is the amount of rotation from the previous bend.
5) Bend your last bend.

I am working on Bend-Tech EZ-3D. This product will have full 3D functionality with a simulation package included. It will show you exactly what to do in a video like environment. It will include flipping the tube in the machine end for end. I am not sure of the list price yet, however, it will be considerably less than Bend-Tech full version. Should be available in late August. If anyone would like to be kept up to date on the release please email me with a subject of Bend-Tech EZ-3D release. Here is a couple of shots of the new screens:
