ProTools bender hydraulic
I just finished building my bender stand and converting to electric over hydraulic, the bender is 5' from end to end. I attached the ram to the stand using a 1" trailer hub it is about 2" deep, do you think this will suffice, or should I make it so it is in double shear.

Your frame looks nice! I think I'd make a few changes, though. The ram will put alot of side load that pin. I would try to do some sort of double shear or something. My hydraulic bender (also protools) arms were set up like yours are and to took alot of force and way too much pressure to start bending. Once the arm was like 20* into the bend, the bender worked great. What I did to resolve this was rotate all the protools stuff (arms and die) like 35* so the ram isn't pushing against the central die pin (I forgot what it's called). If you look at your picture from the rear, it is almost a straight line from the pin on the ram to the piviot of the arms. The bender will need better leverage! Mine will bend over 90* without re-pinning and the line pressure doesn't get above 500psi (w/ 1.75" .120 DOM). What are you doing about controls? I don't see a seperate valve. Is it built into your pump?
It's looking great! |
