Ryobi any good?

So I picked up a 6" Bench Grinder & a 10" Drill press (both Ryobi) from the HD this past weekend. Got them both for 10% off (drill press was $99.99, grinder was like $39.99). Did I just screw myself and get crappy stuff, or will this stuff last me a while seeing as it'll be lucky to get used for an hour or two each week....

EDIT: Here's the drill press I got...
Ryobi DP101 (bottom of the list)

And the grinder -
Ryobi BGH615 (third one down)

If your only using it for an hour or so a week, you should be fine. I have had good luck with some of there products.

A $99 drill press is a $99 drill press...............you can only expect so much. Minimum speed of 540, so that's pretty quick for larger bits, but of course I doubt you're expected to use any bit larger than 1/2" in that anyway.

The grinder will probably be fine. Search the cheap grinder thread, someone swore by the 4" or 4.5" Ryobi grinders saying they've held up the best in their fab shop. I doubt they're the best grinders out there, but perhaps the best value, ie quality vs price.

I have both of these. I run a small business doing art and furniture fabrication. I have wailed on both, and both have held fine. It's all about not abusing your stuff. I do always use oil on the press for cutting, and the grinder is fine.

The chuck is only a pound on for the press, but so is every other cheap one. I wouldn't build the space shuttle with it, but for simple stuff it's fine.
