Too cheap for HF
Well, I could not see paying $130 for a 6 ton press from HF. (I am a super cheap bastard)
I happened to have a bunch of 2x6, 2x3" square tube and some 4" and 6" U channel steel. Plus a spare 6 ton hydraulic jack sitting around. So I figured that I could easily just make a press. ![]() The thing actually turned out fairly well. (I am having a hard time getting the pics off of my camera at work I'll do it at home later) The one place that I am kinda stumped is how I should make stops for the adjustable lower table. I was thinking that it would be easy enough to just weld some tabs to the press itself or would it be better to have more adjustability by drilling 3/4" holes in the uprights for a bar to pass through?? The center section is removable so the tabs would be pretty easy over all. Ideas/suggestions??

And the bender (almost finished.)
The uprights are made out of 2x6" .120 wall tubing. The top member is 7" U channel steel (so is the base of the jack) The adjustable portion is made out of .250 wall 2x3" tubing. The bottom support/tie in is 4" U channel steel. Super beefy... And the obligitory first squish made. D60 5.13 pinion..

close-ups!
i been wanting to do this sorta thing for a while now, it would be extremely helpful if you could get me some close-up shots of the jack, slides/springs, work shelf (where you place that pinion you pressed a bearing onto), etc.

Home-built presses all have one thing in common.
They either eventually look like this (bent): ![]() Or like this (braced):
