I just got a deal on a replacement Makita 12" dry cut blade A-90897
retail is $116cdn and I paid $28cdn which is cost or higher.
that markup seems extreme to me.
Cool, how do I get one for $28 cdn? We are talking about the 12" carbide-tipped steel-cutting blade in the machine that looks kinda like an abrasive-wheel machine? Mine will need to be replaced soon.
Orchard Supply Hardware, a hardware retailer I work for, doesn't do markups for more than 30-50% of whole-sale. Our average markup... I think... is something like 35-45% (not bad). Way back in highschool, I worked for an ACE who's markup was 100-150%. Some people are just greety I guess.
$116 cdn was likely "manufacturer's suggested retail price" (MSRP). No one in their right mind should pay MSRP for anything.
I work with selling office furniture. Furniture manufacturer's "List price" is typically double (or more) than what it actually sells for. Yet another game manufacturer's/distributors play to take our money....
I am trying to get more but I think the well has run dry.
I got one for $28.
with the knowledge of what they cost the distributor you are better armed to jew them down.
