Does anyone know where to get large diameter drills, over .75", with an MT2 taper. Or is there a company that sells an adapter to go from MT3 down to an MT2. Also where is a good company to buy good quality MT taper drills.
Why tapershank bits? They are REALLY expensive compared to standard drill bits, even for the cheapo imports, and they are a pain in the ass to change out. Why not just invest in a good chuck and some decent quality Silver & Demming bits?

Well I cant afford them, so ill stick to regular bits lol. MSC does sell them... search "taper shank" to get the full selection. They only sell 4 "sets" though...
This is from 49/64-1 inch... $1k really expensive, but they are chicago latrobe. Search item number 81109423 You can also buy them individually from them, in the sizes you need. Im gunna guess they are mt2, I believe most of them are, but then again, I dont use these too often, I dont own any of them myself. They sell reducers and adapters as well, so if you have some mt3's or 4's, you can get an adapter.
You may want to look into 3 sided bits... they dont slip in the chuck very easily, and they arnt nearly as expensive. I believe Triumph makes them as well as precision twist.
you may wana check these out they do come in bigger sets
they cut very nice holes.
The MULTI-TOOL system is the only inexpensive method of large diameter hole production (up to 3") on light duty, low horsepower equipment. Some examples are Bridgeport milling machines, lathes, 1HP drill presses and portable magnetic drills. For mor information see Catalog Page.
