I was bored at lunch so here are some pic's of our shop and the 3 CNC machines I bought ( with their Cash ) I am our only machinist here at work that can or will run our Haas equipment. The Mini mill and the Toolroom mill are about 3 years old and the Sl 30 lathe is brand new we have not got it powered up yet,:mad3: soon though. I also included the rest of the shop just to see what you all think.
Woopie, I have a sawzall, 4" grinder, and three welders! :flipoff2:
Seriously, I can only imagine having access to those machines and the training to use them. The options are almost endless on what you can make, too sweet! Nice shop!
Power plants and especially nuclear plants are very clean. If you think about it, if you are guaranteed a profit (by legislation), you can afford to pay folks to keep plants clean. Nuke plants are kept clean for among other reasons to ensure clear fields of view for the security guards.
Even coal-fired plants are clean except for the coal dust on your car/truck.
I finally made a deal on a vertical mill for my shop. The wife even said I could use the home equity line of credit to pay for it!

Tell you what though 9 times out of ten if you do have the training and the machines and even the material after machining for ten hours a day the last thing you want to do it build more parts.
That shop is incredibly clean our floor has so much coolant and metal on it at some points in the day you can hardly see it. Some pretty cool machines though.
No I am the only one who can run the CNC equipment and i am the only one to train the other guys on them I learned CNC control before i got into nuke. We have 6 machinists

My neighbor has one each of these in his garage. He runs a small on the side machining buisness. Made us a very nice TB adapter for out IH inline 4. Great little machines.
The crane and its track are visible in most of the pics above -- look for the yellow travelling beam, the green suspended tracks (and supports), and the black mechanism atop it (the motor).
I have no reason for it, but the ability to lift a vehicle and fly it diagonally across the shop is strangely sexy. :grinpimp:
The other crane we built for the fab shop is in a building I cannot get into right now. I can get pics next week when I go back on day shift. If thats the one you wana see thats what I was talking about in the other thread.
That ther be a clean machine shop! Probably the cleanest I have seen. My buddy's dad's machine shop (specialized production) is a hella lot dirtier.
