Cheap portable band saw

I see a lot of cheap portable band saw on ebay. Im wondering if they are worth it or not. They sell for 60$ compared to 250-300$ for a milwaukee.

Anyone have one, how are they ?

Here is an example of one of those:

Thanks

I have used a milwaukee porta-dand often..so I can tell you they are pretty damn solid overall. The one in the pic looks a bit cheesy on it's parts....

but in all honesty how often are you going to use it and under what conditions???

the biggest pita with a porta-band is getting the blade back through something you just cut..like a pinched tube. This is where you get mad and start yanking on stuff to get it out...

if you just plan on doing moderate cuts on wide open stuff, I'd say give it a shot, and get about 3 spare blades. You are not going to put alot of muscle into cutting through something with a band saw blade, got to let the blade do the work.

for the 60 bucks you will no doubt get some uses out if it, then you will know if it is worth getting the higher dollar ones. Personally I usually try to use anything but a porta-band to cut stuff...but it does have it's uses fo sho.
