Talk about your horizontal bandsaw

Ok, I'm sick of the chopsaw. I'm looking for a horizontal bandsaw in the $2500 and below range. I like the mitering saws because I don't have to swing my material in my rather small shop. I'd love to have 60 degree capability but could probably live without it. I can't see myself ever cutting material larger than 8" but, I would cut multiple pieces of box tubing or even round tube if the vise can hold it. Right now i'm considering these saws but would appreciate any input from you guys that have experience with horizontal bandsaws.

If miter cuts are a must, then what I have to say is of no value to you.

However we have a full hydro "Do-All" saw, its fixed horizontal but its got automatic feed, raise, lower, clamp, ect. Its really nice, and we can cut stacks of angle iron and allthread if its done right. We've used it to cut 30 rods of 7/8 B7 allthread at once.

I bought an early 70's emerson electric off Ebay for $150. It has an 8x10 capacity but can actually cut a hair over 11 inches wide.

The fence and clamp are the most imortant feature for holding multiple pieces securely. I find I have to shim my clamp at the top to keep good holding pressure on the top piece.

I mounted the whole saw on a mobile base with four casters and leave the workpiece fixed on a table and an outfeed roller. I can adjust the angle of the back gauge and rotate the saw relative to the work. I don't cut angles all that often so it's not too much of an inconvenience.

Course if I had $2500 laying around......
