just paid $307 total for a full 75/25 mix bottle at our miller dealer, full size big bottle. Does that sound right or did I get bent? Its for the millermatic200 I got off CL last week.
That seems like A LOT (putting it nicely) for a 300 cf tank, even to someone "off the street." Or I'm going to be giving my supplier a hug when I get my next tank.
Sounds like you went to Airgas. They doubled the prices of their tanks and lost me as a customer. If you are in Austin or San Antonio, go to Texas Welding SUpply. I got my 120cf bottle filled for $175 about 6 months ago. TWS is also open Saturday mornings so I don't have to make up time at work.
Im at work right now so I cant look at it or the receipt. It was Conroe weld supply, north of Houston . The bottle is the normal big commercial unit about 10 or 11 in dia and up to my chin. I will look when I get home at 10pm. I will call texas welding supply tommorow and see what they charge and if I got hosed I will go back to the other place and have a chat.
What sucks even more is most Houston Airgas and Praxair stores won't even sell you a full size bottle....they're lease only. Not sure if you'll be able to exchange that for an owned bottle anywhere except where you bought it.
I compared it today and this one is smaller than the lease bottle I have on my synchrowave 250. When I bought the mix bottle I thought it was the same but its not. The big one has LEASE stamped in the top. I will prob just turn that lease one in when its empty and fork out some more cash for another owned bottle and quit paying rent. Oh well like my dad used to say if you want to play: You got to pay!
I'm in the San Diego area, I paid about $180 for 75/25 bottle at a local supply. It's the 100-120 cubic bottle. I priced a couple of places and they were about the same. In this area you can only purchase one size larger, the largest they will only lease. I found that buying from a private party is the best deal, just make sure it doesn't have a ring on top with a company name, if it does it maybe a lease bottle and you'll lose it when you try to fill it. Not sure on the fill price for 75/25, I have a 200 c.f. argon that's about $80 to fill.
$98 exchanged at my local Welsco. Kind of a regional chain. I own the cylinder
