When transporting my new to me compressor (nice 80 gal 30cfm sandborn 2 stage) the small flexible line was damaged and took out the schrader type vavle leading into the pressure switch. I ordered a new line and switch-I was just wondering the exact purpose? It seems that a check valve controls the pressure to only when the pump is running? Is it a blow off type safety valve so there is no residual pressure in the main lines to the pump?
are you talking about the pop off valve...little springloaded valve with a split ring on it?
it opens up when the pressure gets to a certain point (175 psi or so?) as a backup in case your pressure switch fails to stop the motor when it's supposed to.
