Powermatic drill press?

Possible best buy of the week? Picked up this little bastard for 180 bucks. Its a powermatic model 1150, sits 6 feet 4 inches tall and is a variable speed model. Fired it up and runs great, it has a jacobs chuck on it and has virtually no play in the spindle even when its at its full travel (6 inches). The motor is only a 3/4 horse...... don't understand that, but i think it should have the power for what i need it for. Any info about these things?

I have the same one only an earlier model. That is one kick ass drill pass. One was for sale in the NW burbs on CL yesterday, looked just like that one. I would have picked it up Tuesday afternoon, but I decided to let it go.

I knew where you got it Not many guys stupid enough to sell a machine like that for 180 bucks. I called 20 minutes after the ad was up, just didn't need another or feel like driving to park ridge, but it was tough to pass up at that price. 3/4 hp will be plenty on that drill press

we have a powermatic in the garage no idea what model it was.. but it was free cant reveal my sources or they might get in trouble.. but my dad and i were too dumb to figure out the wiring at the time ( many yr ago) so he swapped a 110 Volt motor from his old table saw in it and put a std. light switch in place of the push buttons has worked like a charm for a long time now !
