Longevity / Parker / Tbolt Welder reviews and pictures

I've search the forum and have found all the reviews to be on the plasma funtion of the machines that people buy from the off brand companies. I'd really like to see some pictures of the quality and reviews of the welder function of their machines -particularly TIG. A few people have posted that they will post a review, but I have yet to see them update them.

I'd like to see the pictures and reviews of any of the MIG machine off brands that are out there.

Material thickness, ease of setup, penetration would be helpful.

Thanks

search my name
I have a longevity plasma, & review

I also just got there big 200a ac/dc tig
I played with it a few minutes
1st tried aluminum, I have no idea what I'm doing

then yesterday I tried a few beads on steel with fill rod, I can lay a smooth but thin flat bead, but goes all the way through the metal, I think 3/16" so I was too hot, aprox 140a I think.
I'll get to playing around this weekend, it's neat to weld and it be so quite and no messy spatter & sparks

I need to tell ya how much I like my miller auto helmet, think I paid $250-275, worth every dollar
I'll get some info on that as well, had it about a year, got it around same time I bought a RE-manufactured Hobart 187, I like that allot too

yea, I read all about your experiences with the "other" brand before you got the longevity setup. I saw your post about the tig but you hadn't updated it yet. I'm just looking to see what others think of it as well.
Thanks for your input

I would of had my review up on Monday, but my LS200-P came in half DOA.

DHL Ace Ventura'd it across the country, because they chose not to tell Longevity that they don't deliver to South Dakota any more.

Simon handled everything quickly and to my satisfaction. I'm now waiting for Fedex to drop off my replacement. How is that for standing behind what you say? Find out Monday late afternoon mine is dead, replacement being dropped off Wednesday by noon.

My review of their cut 50 is up on this board.

I have to leave for work after Fedex comes, but I should be off the rest of the week, so I'll have a full review up very soon.

Got too much work today, but I'll get to it by monday
maybe I'll post the pics later today for a laugh

it welds just fine, I on the other hand need to get more steady with my hands/eys
buddy says the aluminum I was trying to weld with no filler rod was fine
I'll try some rod too, & I'll get pics soon

Yes it works. I'll have my full review up today.

I'm taking a lunch break now, got all the steel testing done and now on to aluminum.

It will take me some time to sort out the pics, there will be around 50. Should have it up by 4 P.M. mst.

Hi All,

If there are any questions about our machines, please feel free to contact Jim at A2Z - he is very knowledgeable in welding and engineering. He is actually a WELDER so he will be able to give you the break down on what are machines can and can not do.

Thank you for the reviews and as always, Longevity appreciates your business and choosing us to supply you with your welding needs!

Simon

Thanks guys, looks like the only thing holding you all back is practice. I think I've made my decision on how to spend my year end bonus.

tried some thin stuff
.040" anodized aluminum
of course it's not supposed to work since it's anodized, but I thought try anyway
I want to build encloses for my panels with some tack welds
well this works, I did this on lowest amp setting, tried with fill rod at 1st then just went without
it warped bad, but I bent it 90* 2 times no break, after 10-15 bends the aluminum broke but not the weld
ugly but strong
anyone know a liquid I can use to remove ano in spots, like muriatic acid removes galvanizing?
be cool to remove just spots to tack spot welds
this was with 3/32" green pure tungsten
local guy never herd of orange stuff, though I picked up a 1/16" red to try sheet metal

might be hard to get that info
send a pro tig welder over & I'll let me try my machine
he can then tell you & give me some tips

I am currently certified with 14 companies for GTAW/SMAW of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Nickel Alloys (Inconel, Hastalloy, etc) . (Boilermaker )

I have a Longevity 140 AMP stick welder that I have used to TIG with and it welds just fine. No AC. DC only Scratch start etc.

Here are some pics from around the house work.

Tig Root and 2nd pass on an old pipe test coupon 6" Sch 80 .

Duplex 2205 Bead on 1/4" plate .

I also have one of the other machines that is multiprocess. It too tig welds and stick welds nicely.

It is a model CT416D.

Here is a piece of scrap handrail pipe I cut with the plasma and welded with the same machine.

These machines have not been used in a production environment however I have no reason to think they wouldn't hold up. I know of at least one person using the plasma on a CNC table so I am sure his machine is getting some arc time.

SeaBass,

I seem to remember you doing a glowing write up on the parker brand equipment as well and recommending them to the board and I think quite a few people spent plenty of money bassed on that recommendation. Turned out to not be as good as you thought. Do you expect different results from longevity? If so, why?

Yes # 1 reason is service!
look around, you don't see rude replies from this vendor period!
He has been nothing but helpfull, makes you very confindent with the vendor, goes a long ways to most people

right off this new Plasma has worked much better then the old one.
it starts very easy & stays going, even on steel mesh, it strikes up an arc smoothly. I was very much surprised at the difference, perhaps my old one was never decent? No idea, but since it broke in 5 hours use, was out of warranty, & was about the same cost to fix or replace, I decided not to fix.

I am not complaing about the warranty, I took a long time before I used it, & the year was up by time it broke
1 year warranty vs 3 year, so I feel much better about this one.
I have not used it much so far, maybe an hour total, but that is like 6 different times, it would take allot of cutting to even get a full hour in

it's really slick when needed.
I had some threaded rod plug welded in a 1/4" hole that broke off, the weld was a tig and was quenched in water making the material hardened, would no way drill,& my bits will drill out grade 8 fasteners.
so I set up plasma, & stuck tip right in hole & burst-brrrp-baaap a few times and done
then I set part up in my drill press and chucked up a carbide mill bit 5/16" to make a round hole, carbide cut that stuff like butter when a drill bit did nothing.

I have longevity's 200a AC/DC tig machine too, been really liking this one!
welding aluminum has always been something I wanted to do,I'm learning it-takes great power compared to steel,I made some so so beads on 2 pieces of 1/8" in a v shape forming angle & thought it looked strong, I clamped it in vice and bent, they had zero penetration and actually broke the welds down the center of the bead still working on that,
I did same with some .040" anodized aluminum, no fill rod & got full penetration, broke material not weld, & it was on lowest setting, went through the ano, looked like a melt but was strong, so it's doable, I have some stripped of ano I'll try, these were commercially stripped to be re-anodized, dipped in a tank, I'll be asking them if there is a way to strip spots for tack welds so I can make pretty encloses without getting rid of my ano all over

very nice work, seeing you got all those certs, when mine don't look too bad with this being my 1st tig on steel, I'm getting there, weld did not break
what do you think?
1/8" 3/32" cerited grey tungsten, small filler 1/16" heat? 100a, might have been a bit high, 1st buttweld ever with a tig

1/8" 3/32" cerited grey tungsten, small filler 1/16" heat? 100a, might have been a bit high, 1st buttweld ever with a tig

The consistency looks good. The weld face looks slightly concave so adding a bit more filler metal may help. Using a 3/32" filler will allow for more buildup. What is morfe important than what we see in the picture is how much penetration there is below the surface. With 1/16" wire and 100 amps more than likely you got pretty good penetration. (I wrote the previous before all of the pics loaded. The penetration looks good. If the internal surface was also slightly concave, pushing a little wire or opening the gap may halp however in many tubing applications full strength may not be required.)

You could stick with the 1/16" and just and another pass to make sure the weld is at leas flush with the surface. Any metal above the surface ads no strength but is common in most joints to assure the joint is at least flush.
