New gardening tool
Hopefully this is the correct forum for this post.
I'm sure everyone here has thought of this already, but I discovered an easy way to pull up bushes. Follow the link >>> YouTube - Bush vs Winch #2 I also found a new way to destroy your sprinkler plumbing.

If you would have rolled your spare tire over to the winch line and ran the line over the tire then down to the bush it would pull it out much nicer.
That way the tire rolls with the winch cable and helps pull the bush tree whatever straight out of the ground. |

I didn't think of that. Seems like a good idea, but I don't think the strap would have held on to the bush if it were pulling up on it. It may just strip the branches off. |

I broke a 10,000# tow strap trying to pull out a damn sawgrass bush with the jeep. After that didn't work, I attacked it with a chainsaw until all of the grass was gone and just the root ball was left. Turns out the root ball on a 12' diameter sawgrass bush is rougly 4' in diameter. I'd have had better luck pulling out a fully grown pine tree.
On the upside, letting the exposed root ball sit there for about a year made it very easy to deal with. Dried out and dead, I was able to shovel it out in about 15 minutes. Last edited by DILYSI Dave; 12-14-2010 at 06:08 AM. |
