race tires

I'd like to pick up a set of lightly used short course race tires, preferably 33-35". I race in a little local gig and don't have access to factory race tires from the trailer at the race!

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Blair

Check Craigslist. The PHX listings often have used SC tires that teams sell after a season of racing. Sometimes you can find the good tires with softer tread and better sidewalls!

Off-road expos and swapmeets are also a good place.

I have a set of 4 Brand New 14.50/35-17 BFG Short Course Tires. Been saving them for a local race use like at Prarie City or similar. They are illegal width now since CORR banned them. Not legal for TORC or Lucas either. These tires rock and really hook up. They are worth 2 seconds a lap on most courses! Not sure why but these have DOT #'s too so they are "legal" for street use which I have not seen before lol

I don't know if I have the power to pull those, but a buddy of mine might be interested. I'll pass along the info.

Thanks!

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to use a national CL search because these just don't show up in the Montana CL!

Some day I'm going to have to go to SoCal or at least to some of the desert play areas to try and score some treads and other parts. Maybe SLC will have a swapmeet in conjuction with the LOORS race?

Thanks for your interest. They would work well for some privateer at a local track. We already set the track record out at Prarie City OHV with a tired engine and worn out 12.5/35-17 BFG's when we decided to enter a local race lol!

You might try craigslist around Wisconsin i have seen some sets over on some offroad forums and craigslist there. I was going to pick up a set there but ended up getting a set out of South Dakota.

Good idea!
Say, did you make it to the Wild West 100 this year? I was in the blue 71 Ford short box. My tranny decided to let loose at the hill climb on the upper loop on the first lap, but it was fun until then.
