Getting started in short course racing?

How would someone go about getting started racing short course? Are there lower level regional circuits? Does anyone have any information on anything in the southeast?

Where in the southeast are you? Did you make it to charlotte for the TORC race this weekend?

There isn't anything in southeast yet, but we need to get something going honestly!

We are trying to get some trucks together mostly just for fun. They are similar to the LOORS stock mini class, but we are all running ford rangers to keep it as spec(and cheap) as possible. The track will be in WV...not exactly the southeast but closer than anything else.

Getting into short course is not all that hard at all. Find your regional organizer for short course racing and get a hold of a class rule book. From there you can pick a class you want to race in. Racing is only as expensive as you want to make it. From nearly sock ford rangers and bronco's, to high zoot tube chassis. There are classes for atv's and side by sides as well. You will have to meet safety requirements. Meaning a Proper roll cage that its often class specific. racing suit, fireproof undies, snel rated full face helmet and so on.
Really you can get a competitive truck built for only 4k or so if you do the work yourself. Or attend a few events and ask around. Often times you can buy a fully prepped truck for not much coin.
After that, its entry fee's and slinging some dirt on the track.
Be certain to read that rule book. Often times, its the stuff you dont know about that will get you black flagged.
Good luck!
