I think it is pretty damn cool that Pirate added a Short Course forum - thanks Lance!

For those that don't know, we are running the #44 AMSOIL Pro-Light in TORC and have a bunch of cool stuff going on before the season opener in Red Bud. We have made changes to the truck in the off-season (imagine that) and spent a lot of time testing and refining the setup.

I'll have some more stuff about the team shortly but until then, here are some shop pics of a bunch of stuff I have been making for it with our Torchmate.

do you guys need any help at the michigan events. i would be more then willing to come lend a hand, i have experience working with other types of Motorsports(Desert racing trophy truck support, trec racing ) but no short coarse stuff.

Hey- If you head over to check this out let me know. Maybe I'll meet you over there. I think I should buy some land down in attica and we could build a short course track. We could do short course version of Trec!

LOVELL RACING TEAMS WITH NISSAN MOTORSPORTS


COLORADO SPRINGS, CO APRIL 20, 2011 – Lovell Racing today unveiled the redeveloped AMSOIL Nissan Frontier Pro-Light in preparation for the opening rounds of TORC in Red Bud, MI May 28th – 29th. The partnership with Nissan Motorsports is a highlight in the team’s preparations for 2011 and team co-owner Brad Lovell expressed his enthusiasm, “The racing heritage at Nissan runs deep. They have amassed plenty of championships and we are proud to be on the team. Nissan is passionate about racing as has some really exciting things in store for 2011.”

A year ago, Lovell had a tough start adjusting to the breakneck pace and intensity of short course racing but returns stronger and better prepared. The team has completed hundreds of test laps, built a barrage of spare parts, and finely tuned the truck. 2011 will take every bit of grip the team has as the burgeoning TORC Pro-Light class continues to draw new talent. Lovell added, “Last year was pretty hectic for us and I was not satisfied. We have been focused all winter quietly preparing to come out of the gates strong.” Nissan Motorsports Manager Ron Stukenberg commented, “We’ve followed Brad’s activities for the past few years and have been impressed with his performance and team operation. Nissan is thrilled to have Brad and Lovell Racing as part of our Nissan Motorsports team in 2011!”

In addition to the regular TORC schedule, Lovell will pilot the #44 AMSOIL Nissan in the 89th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and attempt to better his 3rd Place effort of 13:17 to the top of the 14,110 ft mountain. Roger Lovell will headline the team’s rock racing effort by chasing Ultra 4 season points and joining Brad for various rock crawling, desert, and short course events. Additionally, Brad will continue to pilot the #232 rock racer in choice rockcrawling, desert, Ultra 4, and hill climb events.

AMSOIL returns as the team’s title sponsor along with BFGoodrich Tires, Torchmate CNC Cutting Systems, Spidertrax, and 4 Wheel Parts. The team’s sponsors include TrailReady Wheels, Aeroquip, Fox Racing Shox, Eibach, FK Rod Ends, Dynotech Driveshafts, Howe Performance Steering, Motive Gear, Powertank, Proformance Unlimited, Robinson Construction, and WARN.

I'm guessing its still Ford since last I heard TORC only has approved Ford, Chevy, and Dodge engine packages for Pro-Light. I could be wrong.

Nissan Motorsports is developing a motor and I think it will run this season but I don't have it yet.

Just got back from Red Mud. Holy cow I have never seen so much mud. We had a great weekend going but fuel cell issues caused us to DNF both days. Best and worst racing of my short course career. Pics in a few.

Cool pictures Brad! Sorry to hear about the fuel issues. I kept logging onto Facebook hoping for good news. Looks like you were flying (literally) in those pics. I can't imagine the clean up being very fun.

Everything went great out there until the fuel issue. It was a huge confidence builder. Once I lost power, it was like falling into a pit of sharks - covered in mud, 2 bodies, bent tube, and broken brackets! We already have 9 hours into cleanup on the truck and probably 7 to go.

It was great having some support from Torchmate out there. JT did a great job and kept me cool. Looks like we will be outfitted well for Crandon.

Kind of a long story. The fuel cell came from Fuel Safe and we have a season on it. We replaced the pickup line to the surge tank before this race. When we opened it, the original line was not hooked up to the tank. I figured it worked its way loose over last season. My shop guy reinstalled everything and we did 20 test laps with no problems. In Red Bud, I was hammering it hard enough that the surge tank cocked to the side and moved up so the pickup was drawing fumes with 5+ gallons left.

We popped it open at the race and added foam above the tank to really pack it in there (thinking the shop guy did not reinstall it right). Well, it happened in the second race also. I now think the pickup line was never installed correctly at Fuel Safe and that the surge tank has always been floating around.

It cost us a lot.

Cool pics! I can only imagine the mess that mud left. What tricks and methods have you found are easiest for removing the mud? Use any non-stick oils prior to racing to make clean-up easier?
