How did you like the Baja Claws in Hollister compared to the IROC's? Seem to see them out there more than anywhere else. Very nice ride and pretty envious of your thought and ingenuity putting it together. Good job and good show at TTC. Keep on keepin' on!

I've never run the Iroks at hollister, so I could not give a good opinion on that comparison,
Local trials the claw is by far the better tire for here, I am very happy that I tok them up on the offer & ran these tires, I figured I would take them off after the comp, but after running them a while, they'll be staying on until they are worn out, Here is a thread with a little info about these tires, http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthrea...ight=baja+claw And since this is a build up thread about the buggy I suppose I should post some pics with the bigger shoes on it, My brother getting busy with the groving iron ![]() ![]() Ready for TTC ![]() New stazworks wheels ![]() Snorkel installed for the tank trap

And here are some pics from the event, all taken from fourwheelers website,
Frame twister ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They sling mud pretty good ![]() I had the most fun at the obstical course ![]() ![]() As much as I like these new tires, there is one area where they perform NO better than any other tire, And thats when they are in the air, ![]() Believe me, I've tried them in this element several times, twice in fact at TTC. |

That's a blown alky injected 486ci ford,
12:1, ported aluminum A-460 heads, A-460 block 4.530 bore 3.77 stroke (offset ground forged crank & vinolia aluminum rods) 14-71 Littlefield High helix supercharger with the delta opening, (25% over driven) Paired up with the Enderle bird catcher, Dry sump oil system, 2.375 primary headers into 4.5" collectors, We figure it's making between 1500 & 1600 HP, It was in this truck, (edit) Streetfire.net is working again Mud races & bogs in Lakeview OR, also one run whe - Car Videos on StreetFire Very poor quality video of the truck at the sand d - Car Videos on StreetFire & this is why it's sitting in the shop without a truck, YouTube - Mud races in boise I still have the Iroks, If I ever get caught up around here, I would like to use them, the engine in the above pic, & a set of top loaders & reverser box I have kicking around, Picture a rear engine all tube chassis late 70's regular cab ford with 49" treads & about 1500 ponies, could be a good time

So have you decided to go ahead and groove the rest of the tires on the rig? Or maybe take every other lug out of them for better traction like the guys of the past few years of TTC have been doing for the Claws?
Just wondering?? Thanks, Matt from Grand Junction, CO

No I'll be leaving them alone, I might one day put the other 2 uncut tires on the rear & use the cuts for spares, but all in all it works well the way it is, kind of hard to change things up when they already work so good, I would say cuttung them really helps in the mud, other than that is is not much benifit, & since I live in a desert, cutting the rest probably would only hindder the tire around here, |

I asked skipped link that same question when I competed against him at ITTC 2009. He said that he just turned the differentials over 180 degrees.

Just finished reading the article- good job. Looks like you had some bad luck in the hillclimb. For me, that was the "spookiest" event. Otherwise, it looked like a fairly tight competition for the top 4 competitors. Do you suppose the DVD is out yet? Drop by anytime you're in the neighborhood.

ya know skipped, i have a almost all tube frame late 70s shortbox on 44s that could use that motor
![]() i also have a very nice cab and front clip if you need some parts i need to finish my shit and go wheeling with you ![]() on a diffrent note, how do you like the efi 7.5 ? i want more power than the factory efi has, but i can get my hands on a good runner for cheap. it would mean less work for me, but i am a hp freeeeak and did you change your header flanges for the efi heads ? or just redrill them ?

![]() I've been watching your build for a while now, you do need to get it done, I'm game for wheeling anytime. I'm pretty happy with the EFI 460, all I did was make sure I had the newer F3 heads (bigger intake valves) decent springs, & the comp cams computer freindly camshaft from summit, The headers are the 2" primary headers that were on the 501, All I did to make them fit wasbuild up the bottom of the primary at the flange, (about 3 passes with the mig then port to match the head) then elongate the bolt holes about 1/8 inch, they seem to work ok, I agree, the big horse power is fun, but when your miles from anywhere, dependability it pretty cool too, & thats one thing the 7.5L is, dependable. Can you get the 5 spd ECU? Last edited by skipped_Link; 11-06-2009 at 08:30 AM. |

yep the whole rig. it runs and drives. but its an 89 so it will have the early heads. the reason i ask about the headers is i started on my 1 7/8 and waterjeted 3/8 flanges aready. i need to find a set of efi heads and make it fit both i guess. i should have done that before i had them cut, but ya know
![]() i may pass and stick to my original plan of a 454 tbi i have, but then i need to find another comp. as i sold it. then make my own multi port intake ( victor ) when i build the motor. but i didnt want to make the fuel pump and lines / etc twice. and 1500 -1600hp - hmmmmmm how much ?

When people hear it run they don't believe it's virtually stock, but I know whats in it & there is no point in fibbing about it, I'd probably let the blower motor go for $20K, (far less than I have in it) but you better be ready to spend that much in upgrading parts
