Announcing a new series!
The people behind Paragon Adventure Park, NEUROC and Badlands Off Road Park are excited to announce a new off road racing series!
Throughout this decade the four wheeling enthusiasts combined the love of trail riding with the element of competition to create “Rock Crawling.” This new sport generated a lot of excitement and an overwhelming fan base. Eventually Rock Crawling fans wanted even more and the Rock Crawlers rose to the occasion with the creation of “Rock Racing.” However, Rock Crawlers and Rock Racers are left yearning for the stardom of other professional motorsports drivers and the sport is still searching for its niche in the mainstream of motorsports. Announcing . . . TREC! TREC will end this dilemma. TREC IS THAT NICHE! TREC is Trail Racing Endurance Circuit a.k.a. FOOT TO THE FLOOR - AVOID THAT TREE - FLY THROUGH THE AIR - KEEP IT ON AT LEAST TWO WHEELS RACE! TREC transforms the average Saturday trail ride (traveling less than five miles per hour) to a race over the mountains, through the woods and across the awesome dunes of Badlands Off Road Park at redline speeds! TREC is about endurance not the difficulty of an obstacle. A 12+ mile course has been designed at the Badlands Off Road Park in Attica, IN. This course will encompass everything a normal slow trail ride has such as rocks, hills, mud, sand etc. but now speed has been incorporated into the competition! The Badlands has the unique ability to offer a small scale desert-style race and dense woods that will maximize the thrill and offer even more excitement! TREC will have four evening races at The Badlands Off-Road Park. The races will last approximately two hours and take place after the Park closes. TREC will have multiple vehicles at one time starting in staged starts and racers will have two classes to choose from to accommodate different vehicles. As Fall approaches the races will drive into the moonlight and the fourth and final event of the season will include the most exhilarating element – darkness! TREC will be open to adapted full body trail vehicles and buggy type vehicles with an affordable entry fee. Specific information on classes and registration can soon be found on www.TRECwithus.com. How much of the 12 miles will be 'rock' style trails vs high speed stuff?

The course isn't "rock crawling" type trails. There won't be highly difficult, technical rock sections. But there will be about 70% in the woods and slower style terrain 30% will be wide open across the dunes and such. This course is set up to not favor one style. Some of the wooded sections will be single vehicle wide so it should produce some bumper to bumper racing at low to mid speeds. We anticipate the dunes is where most of the passing/neck-in-neck racing will occur.

Easy now I didnt say it was going to flat.
![]() ![]() ![]() For those of you that know the park the course goes thru the green trail and orange trail to give you some idea of level of difficulty and there will be a couple of jumps in it to. I am almost done with the rules and we are working on finding dates that fit the best for everone but I wanted to start getting imput from the drivers ASAP. |

Great news Kyle! I've always thought it would be cool to do this at the Badlands. Unfortunately the Badlands rockcrawling area would be difficult to put in to a "trail", but the rest of the park is nothing but trails. The green trail is something that can be completed in a Rubicon, and the orange trail would probably take 35's and lockers. The trick is the fact that the trails are tight and have a ton of ups, downs, and turns. There are also plenty of open high speed areas that compare to desert racing. I want to know when the races are because I'd love to come back for one of them. I mean, there might only be a handful of people that know the park as well as I do.

Not sure if you're joking or what, but a WRX isn't going to make it very far. I wouldn't want to take much less than your Jeep on the trails they're talking about using.

He was talking go fast rally type. Gotta get a good rally car. I'm excited about this style of racing. Another group did it last year at Uharrie (sp) with decent success I heard. Last edited by Never Monday; 01-05-2009 at 06:51 PM. |

This sound like a good idea Kyle. I think it would be a blast. Looks like I'll be starting a buggy sooner than later.
