FF hub same as mini front inner hub?

me & jason just finished installing my full floater w/ disc's into the cruiser. Works GREAT but what a pain its been. turns out one of my hub flanges is bent by like .020" that translates to about 1/2" at the tire & causes my brakes to drag badly. I need a new hub but would like to use a mine cause they are so cheap. will this work? BJ?

Also wanted to say thanks to all that have helped me out. (Jason M, texican, 4crusiers, wngrog, Bj on roids & who ever else helped me that I'm forgeting)

I'm driving the cruiser w/ my stuff down to long beach on monday to be shipped & my wife & I will be on plane on wednesday to Hawaii to forget about all of our troubles. w/ our luck the plane will probably crash into the ship hauling my cruiser & our car

Are you talking about the rear FF hub in comparison to a front hub?..
The Rear FF hubs stick out farther away from the wheel mounting flange to allow room for the big locknut/seal arrangement.
If you want to use a Minitruck front hub on the FF rear you will need a spacer and longer studs

New FF hubs cost over $100 each, if you can get them in the US. I'm concerned the studs are already the weak point in a FF rear, using a spacer and longer studs would make them even weaker. What do you think, CRO? Are you Chris Olson?

I have a pic of a FF hub next to a front hub somewhere. I'll post it if I can find it.

specter wants $289 ea. I really don't have time to swap them anyways so I guess I'll hold my breath that I can make it the 500 miles I need to until I can get a chance to fix it.

How much longer are the rear ff hubs compared to fronts?

I didn't measure it, but I'd say something close to 3/4" to 1". Here's a picture:

You know, That almost looks like enough length to set a pair of asin hubs on it. Cut the FF flange off of the axle and have it resplined. Might be cool...

bjowett from these boards has done just this!

also if you use IFS front hubs, you can get three inches more width, this is how the 80 series gains its extra width (WMS is further out on the hub)

pics and details here:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...5&pagenumber=3

checkout page three the pics i poisted!

if i can help email me or something and let me know. Even if we have to get a new hub? is the housing straight???

good luck dude (steal parts off the other axle for the time being)?!?!?!?!

the flange where the studs are mounted, the rotor & tire sit against is either warped or bent (possibly bent b/c its not uniforly warped). the spinlde & bearings are fine. dont have any pics but it is out by something like .020" or .50 mm. this causes some serious drag & wobble. I went & swapped a hub from my brothers FF & its warped about .010. this must be pretty common. Now I'm dealing w/ a warped rotor that gets pretty damn hot. sorry bj dont think you could get me a flange by tonight. thats when I'm leaving. I'm just going to chance it & hope it makes the 300 mile tonight towing a small uhaul. If any one has any ideas (or words of caution) give me a call on my cell phone (702) 498-1590 since this is about my last chance to have internet access for about 2 weeks.

the hubs interchange from side to side.

I dont understand, the flange itself is bent? are you sure? (not accusing you of not knowing, but damn, i dont think ive ever seen one, or at least heard about it) maybe your rim/wheel copped a dent?

good luck dude, take a bearing tool, ive driven home on a bent wheel and what i did was tighten the bearings when i got home, man they were loose.

Honestly Sixty is correct, you could see the wobble in the flange before the rim was put on. If the spindle was bent there would be some sort of binding on the axle shaft. And the wheel would not wobble. It would just be canted.

The bummer is that we did a RDB conversion when we instaled this axle. So the disk actually moves the caliper back and forth. I suspect some lathe work could straighten out the flange. or even possible heating it up with a torch and bending it back. But I have no idea what heat does to a cast surface. The lug studs do not bind going into the rim. So I kinda doubt that just one of the studs is off. But it could have bent during shipping.

Sixty, if you need anything just call. I got a big trailer and a bigger green ford at your disposal..

Take the thing down and have it turned like a rotor. .020 in. is nothing. It will run true after that and will cost alot less than 289.00. I could do it for you, if you do not know someone closer.

PS I bet BJ could get them (new) cheaper, but the duty will kill ya.

The aisan hub will not fit on due to the large spindle with unique to the rear full floater retainer nut.

I finally had a 3/4" spacer welded on to the hub, works just like stock.

Beanz... I am actually Chris Olson..
I have seen the spacers used on A FF rear before on a rear axle setup by Mike McTague( our Landcruiser Mike)
I believe the secret trick to keeping the setup alive was to make the shear pins extend through the spacer to keep everything lined up
Shear pin material... the shank ends of a metric drill bit.

Can someone maching me a set of the spacers? I need ones with 12 holes, (10mm diameter) 3/4" thick. Moser is going to build me a pair of axle shafts with no cone wshers for twelve 10mm bolts and they will have the extra long spline for the e-locker, but I still need spacers...anyone?
