Grand Prix question. (Not tech!)
A guy that I work with owns a 2000 Grand Prix, and the hood release cable broke somewhere between the firewall and hood latch. The cable is still attached to the release lever, but it won't open. Does anyone know how to open the hood without damaging it? He said that he has ram air, so even when he takes out the grille insert, he can't get to it because of the air duct. Does anyone know where he can get access to the latch. I told him to put it up on jackstands, remove the air dam, and try to get to it from underneath, but I was hoping someone has done this before and has a definate answer. I've checked online, and it seems to be a common problem, but I didn't find any real answers short of taking it to a dealer, and they want $350 for a new cable plus labor. Oh yeah, if all you got to say is "This is tech", then shut your fawkin' cake hole!

What a pain in the ass!! My beater Daytona's cable was snapped, so I did the ghetto/ricer thing to do, bought some $10 hood pins from Summit
.. Made it faster too ![]() Don't think your buddy wants to drill holes in his new hood though . I have nothing else to say here, sorry *Shrug*

WTF? Newbie 4X4 tech? I'll be damned, I didn't know that Pontiac made a 4X4 Grand Prix.

i knew pontiac sucked. anyways, i do bodywork but i've never taken apart this particular car. i'd say either take everything apart and carefully pop it open, or get out the old sawzall. 2000 pontiac; if he has full coverage. chop it up and tell em' someone was trying to steal the battery
