LWB Classic RR restoration nearly complete
Other than getting the correct Michelin 205's, the cover plate for the fuse box, getting the right side fog light to work, and the cruise control operable, the restoration of my '94 LWB is complete.
Hehe. Looks pretty sweet actually. I'm gonna go take some pics tonight when the light gets good. Put an ad in the paper today for it and the 1990. If anyone gets bored they can look up the ad in the Review-Journal, you might get a kick out of the one for the '90. Tech: I was able to connect the high-low linkage without dropping the t-case. Removing the front driveline from the axle gave me enough room to replace the connecting rod (thank heaven's, that saved me about 3 hours of work). Also, as part of my 'restoration', I put in the springs that the dealer uses when they do a coil-sprung conversion onto a LWB. Interestingly enough, they use stock 110 front coils on the front of the LWB. I replaced the Woodhead shocks with some OME's and I have to say that this RR rides pretty damn nice. Too bad we can't have lift, load capacity *AND* a supple ride. I removed the solenoid control box and compressor and am trying to figure out a good use for it. Hmmm.....maybe it's time to start thinking about the air springs in the CrewCab again? I was planning on making it manually adjustable, but the solenoid setup is pretty sweet. I think the compressor actually works too. Might have to put it in something maybe. So...now I'm sitting by the phone waiting for some suckah to call up wanting a LWB. I'mm thinking of putting an ad in the Salt Lake paper for next weekend and driving it up there. This truck is clean, and a rust-free Utah Range Rover is hard to find. Hmmm.... This kind of sounds like a subversive 'for sale' post, but trust me I know none of you POR cheap-bastards wants a STOCK LWB. Sorry OS, lemme know if it's too much, I can edit out the chit-chat and leave in the tech tid-bits.
