Talking Aussie Locker on it's way

After almost 2 months to the day looks like the locker for 98XJ is being shipped from Pa. Not the best time of year to ship but just maybe it will find the right tree.
It will go into the front(Dana 30) with nothing decided yet abt open rear diff. Will see what it does for the XJ & may not need one in the rear. We don't climb rocks & walls tho like some do just snow & Fl sand & mud.
Anyone here do this install so we know what to expect &/or respect?
Also if cv's are needed can they be replaced(89k mi) or must the shafts be replaced?

Thanx & Happy Xmas
Gben

AWESOME!

This will help with the install: LINK

PS - IMHO, you should lock the REAR first... not the front.

yeah, they were a little behind on getting them sent out.

I agree with locking the rear. I'd order the rear before the prices go up on the first. I've got the one for a amc 20 rear, and it seems to work well.

Nobody gave a fawk about this post on JU today, why did you feel the need to post it here as your first post? That's some pretty hard core tech... why didn't you post that you were looking for 30x10.50 tires also.

"After almost 2 months to the day my locker for front diff of 98 xj is on the way from Pa. Not the best time of year to ship due to xmas rush but maybe it'll come to the right tree. Hope to get it in before 010204 for trip to good ole Murphy NC.
Anyone here done the install? Easy as they say?

Also has anyone found 30x10 tires anywhere?
See lots of 31's but no 30's like I was hopeing to save as much torque & mileage as possible & fit 2" lift. These little 225 wheelbar tires have got togo.

Thanx, Gben"

Come back when you get out of diapers.

They should really name this forum something else. "Jeep Talk" doesn't describe what this place is.

Thanx Survey,

Would have probly went with rear first but couldn't get the lockrite or the noslip near that price.
Mostly flat country so front will be advantage for us as they recommend & xj is not full time.

Thanx Pete,

You may be correct but they are most likely pretty good guys.
It could be that they do not know this but hopefully they'll flush when they're done.

Thnx Guys, Gben

Sounds like airing down your tires is all you really need!

2 questions though,
Since the OX locker fiasco, I havent been paying much attention to the recent round of Johnny come lately lockers, so,......
"what the hell is an Aussie Locker"?
"Why are they comming from PA instead of Australia"?

Thanx 8monday,

Yes flatening the tires helps but for the price of airing back up or wear to nearest air pump & the time factor for us the $199 locker wins.
You may search here with, aussie or goto vendors showcase for all the good info needed. Mfr in Australia ships bulk air to the U S distribitor(TorqueMasters) in Pa.

Thanx Hybrid,

Easy, easy, easy to install is Good, good, good news.
Now if the cross shaft pin will just jump outta there w/o pulling my teeth it'll be geddy up time in dixie.
Also I thimk the search on Pirate will bring up some paper on reports from actual users on the trails.
They are saying too that any order placed after midnite 12/31 will be at the higher price which is either $250 or $300.

Mine worked so well that while I went out today to play on some nice big snow mounds I managed to roll my Jeep... I guess I need to get used to having a locked front end and being able to get myself into more trouble. (pictures to come...)

I really like it though, I never heard it make one noise. Seems to have worked perfect.

Unhappy

Thnx Lowrangrider

for the headsup & hope it didn't get any serious injury & you are ok.

If you feel upto ques;

What Jeep isit & isit Dana 30 part-time?
Tall rubber?
Rear open or closed?
Happy with pulling ability of the front?
Easy install & did cs pin get by the ring gear or did you have to pull the carrier?

Son has CJ7 with open rear & welded front & never ceases to amaze us at what it can do among other 4x4's. One of reasons why I opted for the front aussie lock.

Thnx agn, Gben

Got aussies front and rear. Dana 44's with 5.38 gears and running 35" tires. Easy install, nothing to worry about. Pin didnt fit past the ring gear on mine, had to pull the carriers and ring gears off. Best suggestion is use a flat tip screwdriver the width of the pin slots and use it like a shoehorn to help seat the springs in there. Thick heavy grease helps hold everything together while assembling.
