Canadian lwb rollbars
Hello people, it seems that I have a much rarer truck than I was originally willing to admit. But I have a need that needs to be filled.
I have a lwb sammy that came over from England with the factory 2-piece hardtop. Well, England has totally different safety standards than North America does. My problem is, I don't have a rollbar for it, and I, like others out here, have flipped a sammy on pavement due to no fault of my own, so driving a lifted sammy around makes me a little on the uncomfortable side! I have seen and heard that the Canadian lwb sammy's had one of two different rollbars, one in the normal spot behind the targa bar, and one in the very back. Well, as anyone else knows that knows lwb sammy's, the rollbars have a different shape on the bottom than a swb sammy. I would like to find both bars so that I can start to make the full cage using a Davesport front cage to complete the structure. If you can help me, it would be appreciated. Pm me if you can help.

You'd have an easier time and be better off to get someone to fab you up a cage. The bars aren't that great and most bars have been pilfered from the yards for joe bloes pickup truck stupid roll bar lights.

I would just get a full Dave Sport cage, like I did.
The stock roll bar is not something that you can trust. Not at least to be sure anyway. TB

The lwb bars are different then the swb bars. The swb bars go to the wheelwells, the lwb bars go to the floor.
The problem with having someone in this area fab me a rear cage, is they want a small fortune to do what the factory bars could do for me. I know the factory bars aren't the strongest, but they are better than not having anything at all. At the very least, they will serve as a pattern to have a local motorsports place to build me a stronger replacement bar. Funny thing about the factory bars, I made a rear cage in a swb out of 2 stock rear bars and mounted it in the factory spot with the second one turned backwards on the back of the wheelwell. I flipped that sammy on its lid in 2003 doing 35 on dry pavement. Honestly, if the factory bars were that much junk, I don't think that I would be typing right now. So...I think that the stock bars properly supported would be just fine. Danny, if you can check as soon as the weather gets to be more survivable, I would appreciate it. If you have both, would do need for them?

Sorry.... The front one goes right to a flat spot on the floor, after years of stripping LWB's ya think I would have remembered that! MuddMachine: I make sure my heater core has no crap on top of it when winter comes (have have a little trap door to make cleaning easier....ok it's not really a door...it's duct tape......lol) I made a wall behind the front seats not long ago and even put a HT rear glass in it, helps keep the heat in front. Last year I had no wall and it wasn't tha bad, but I was not as warm as NOW!

Thanks for the effort, I appreciate it. If the local wrecker has it, find out how much, and if need be, get me their number and who to talk to. Thank you.

So your zuki is from England? is it RH drive then as well? there was a guy on here last spring that had a RH drive on the east cost...cant remember who.
Post up a pic of what you have, I am curious to see what the 'differences' really are. can someone also post a pic of the rear bar in question here for me? Just curious about them, never heard of it.

My lwb WAS a right hand drive. It is now a left hand drive. I used the front part of a Japanese sammy tub to do the conversion. Also used the wiring harness and all of the fuel/brake plumbing. The european sammys have wiring and plumbing like an 80s vintage Rabbit. None of the mounts for the brake lines are even close. The brackets have just round openings and the lines don't have a clip on them to hold them still, they have a not that holds them on (pain in the a**)! It took me about 350 hours straight to get that stupid thing on the road. But it was well worth it!

Mine is from Canada, only one hoop came with it... not sure if it ever had a hoop under the targa. Below is a link to where one pic resides, included a pic what it looks like today... still have some work to finish on the cage... heck, might cut it out and start over.
first day from spidertrax... one rear roll bar Let me know if you want me to email you more pics... I just don't have time to post on my own site and pics are too large to post here.

A few problems that I have with having someone else do the cage, are I have a factory hard top for it and there are 2 sets of latches in the front of the rear half. And as all you lwb owners know, lwb's have an interesting side panel design for the front bar, it needs to go in at the floor more than a regular swb bar.
I basically need a family style cage, that is one reason that I was looking for stock bars to start with. It would be, from my experience, strong enough to save my a** if I actually do roll my lwb. If I have someon else make my cage from scratch, it'll cost me a small fortune and I'll be without my truck for better than a week. That was my whole point of getting on here to try to find the lwb bars.
