TDS Event Raises Money for Rubicon

March 6-7: I attended the Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari down by the Salton Sea of CA. What a BLAST! It's a great event, but more importantly I received some donations for the Friends of the Rubicon, including a very nice one from Peter Di Primo of the Ventura County Axle Snappers. Thanks Peter!

And the other amazing news about this great event is that the Tierra Del Sol club collected donations totalling about $11,700 towards the BlueRibbon Coalition Legal Action Fund. This is the fund BRC uses to fight law suits like the El Dorado one potentially affecting the Rubicon Trail, along with Rock Creek and some other areas.

Last year the TDS folks raised $11, 206. This year they beat the record. We're talking one club; one event; one weekend. And that doesn't count the $5000 they give Cal4wheel; $5000 they give United Four Wheel Drive Associations; $5000 they give CORVA; and others.

If you're looking for a great fun in the sun desert adventure, put the first weekend of March on your calendar and make the trek to Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari. There were 1420 registered vehicles this year. I suspect it's about the biggest four wheel drive event in the West now. And there's plenty of room for everyone to play.

Thanks to TDS (again).
Del

That was my first time to TDS and I had a blast!
Great to hear that so much money was raised for a good cause.

The Axle Snappers kicked in an extra $100 to Blueribbon also.

I know sometimes we get tired of kicking in money, especially gas money. But now and then we gotta do it. It's the only way to stay in the fight.

thanks to all, again, Del
