4 Runner top on short bed pickup?

Can I put a 4 Runner top on my short bed? I found one locally that's already the right color and I'm wondering if it will work. I looked through the FAQ and searched but didn't find anything.

The only problem I see is sealing the front of the top from water and weather. Any ideas?

There is a thread on here (maybe fav. toys) that had a 4runner top on his pickup. It was also in 4wd and su this year.

Alright, that's good. I've looked through that thread a lot but I guess I'll be looking again, heh.

I plan to convert it but keep the bed, just Rhino line it or something. It all depends...

One of the major 4 wheel magazines had a pickup w/a 4runner cap on it featured. They mentioned nothing about the top, but I am about 100% sure it was a runner top. The thing looked like it needed a bunch of work done to get it to work. Anything is possible...give it a shot. I am pritty sure it was last months issue of 4 wheel magazine (not petersons).

Ive seen a pickup around town that had a shell on it and at first glance I thought it was a 4 runner but I got up close and it was a pickup with an aftermarket shell that looked like a 4 runner top just like the magazine truck were talkin about. i know it wasnt because the backwindow area. This also brings up the question, how would you keep it theft proof with no backwindow??? Anyways they do make a top that looks like a 4 runner for pickups

A 4runner top will NOT fit a regular truck. I just converted my 88 Extra cab truck to a 4Runner. It can be done, but it took a massive amount of work.

4runner guys spend time and $ to try and figure out how NOT to run that heavy ass stock top, and you truck guys want to figure out how to use them. Everytime I wrestle that top onto my rig I wish I had a truck so i could run a lightweight truck shell. stock tops are heavy hogs and change your cog. makes a huge diffrence on how my rig handles.

unless your getting it free, I personally would rather save and spend the cash on an aftermarket top. you can get them that look just like the 4runners and for me the BIGGEST advantage was the weight. It wen't from wrestling my old stock top off my 4runner to a cake walk on my new extra cab. just something to think about.

Back some time in the 80s maybe early 90s thier was a company making topper shells for toy p/u's that looked very simalir to 4runner tops.
