Need info on the bare minum wires for duraspark system

I tried the search and can not find the actuall info I need or a good link to a diagram. What I have is a 78' bronco with a 351 m in it that my buddy is turning into a buggy. The wireing was trashed when he got it and he ripped it all out before I got to look it over.Basicly I need to know the only wires that are needed to make it run.It has no harness whats so ever.We bought a new coil and still have the factory duraspark box that was on it with the wires hanging out of it.There was another small silver box in the system that had 2 or 3 wires on it also but I have no idea for sure.He has not brought it to the shop yet were I could just dive in.Just figured I would ask about this knowing someone here has the answer..thx for any help or leads to fix my problem...

yeah, that is a ground, and the dist. probably doesn't have a dedicated ground, it gournd through the other black wire, that goes to ground.

The distributor is the grounding for the entire system. If you are missing the black wire out of the distributor, I believe it would be poissible to just ground the module elsewhere.
Personally, if I was building a buggy, and, I had no harness to work with, I'd use a HEI module to fire the ignition. EXTREMELY simple to wire, just have to get a heatsink for the HEI module.

Hey I made that picture a couple years ago. That sumbitch is making it way around the net. I've seen it in a lot of different places.

Both of those grounds are there to remind you to make sure you have good grounds in those two locations. If you have a gasket under your distributor, you may need a better ground.
If your distributor has a good ground, the black wire to the module will ground through the distributor.
By the way that picture is modeled somewhat after a 1979 CJ wiring diagram, hence the "F" splice.

So should I not put the F splice in.It has nothing right now but the plug with some wires hanging off the distributor and I called him and he said it does have the 3 wires from the distributor. So I geuss We should put a splice in the black wire from the box and ground it also.If I do not get it working I will try the HEI deal the other man mentioned. It looked like a good idea.I figure I could take the heatsink off a old computer processor and put on the HEI module.Good job on the pic this is the second place I got that pic..lol
