Didn't make it to the badlands-Jeep Liberty 0 Pathfinder, 0 Rovers 2!

Decided last minute to not go to the Badlands. Went out to start the Disco, the new starter motor won't crank the engine, but to make things worse, the motor won't stop turning! Had to disconnect the battery and tow to the shop to replace the brand fawking new starter motor with a used one with 40K fewer miles than the one being replaced.

Pick up friends, call others and drive to the trail. Hook up on the trail with the called friends and the carnage begins. We're cuttin' along pretty well when the Pathfinder hits a rock wall with lots of wheel spin-POOSH! Make it out of the hole and find a huge gaping hole in the side wall. Change the tire, all three trucks make it to the next obstacle, Pathfinder hits a rock wall again with lots of wheel spin-Poosh! Aw Fawk, second tire and who has TWO spares? Did I tell you there were two teenage girls and a five year-old boy in the Pathfinder? Load up the girls in my Rover and head for town to search out an open tire store. As we're trying to make our way out of the woods, we stumble upon these three kids with a Liberty stuck BAD (silly Jeepers ). Time to pull the cable (which makes Alexa positively giddy!). The area is so muddy we end up anchoring her Rover to a tree with all of the tow straps we had. Two pulls and the Liberty is free, except for the damage! At the very least, they busted a shock mount off the axle and may have torn a lower control arm off, they were SlOWLY limping home, last we saw. The sad thing, the owner of the vehicle was out "Testing" his new tires, Bridgestone Dueler A/Ts. They said all terrain and this is terrain! I don't think he got any that night from the cute little girl with him

By this time, it's pushing 2000 hours in rural central Indiana-Wal-Mart would sell us a tire, but there was nobody to mount it and No, they won't let me run their tire machine. Fortunately, Alexa knew the owner of the local tire store, but it's another 20 miles away (we already wasted two hours getting lost on the way out of the woods) and we'll have to pay an emergency call fee. Tire ran $109 on the rim and out the door.

I made it home about 0230 after arising at 0600 the morning before.

I'm still tired and not sure how much body damage I did to my truck, there were some slidy points. But, all in all, a great time and I only drove 450 miles!

Peace,
PT

Given the time involved, I could have made it to the UP!
