FINISHED BUGGY, Need Input for FUTURE Project, INDONESIA

WE
- FADWORKS
- PARTS-M
almost finished building this buggy.

Now I am ready to get some good CRITICS regarding errors that I have made for this 1st project so that I can understand more about how to build a "GOOD" Rock Crawler Buggy.

Detail Specifications will be posted on the next thread.

Of course I know that we made lots of mistake due to :
  • Our technical knowledge,
  • Difficulties in getting technical reference (written or printed)
  • Difficulties of meeting meeting people that actually already built such buggy,
  • Dificulties in talking to you guys about how to built a proper Rock Crawler Buggy, etc
  • and so many other difficulties,...

However, we are ready to get critics and inputs from all of you, so that we can learn from the "PRO" at PBB,......

Thanks for all of the input,...

Any more pics? I'd suggest a small hoop in front of the steering ram to act as a guard, I did this on mine and I have two huge dents in it after just 2 trips out

Oh, and integrate some sort of hook into the guard so you can attach the winch cable to the front axle. I didn't think about this till after the guard was installed on mine.

Edit: sorry, looks like your still posting....

Nice looking buggy!

I'd put a diagonal brace across the back of your cage. And appologies are not necessary, fawk-the-haters...Just do it!

And I think I can speak for many on this board when I express our sympathy in this time of great natural disaster.

Good luck on your project.

Thanks for your sympathy on the -TSUNAMI DISASTER-. I would also express our thanks for the US SUPPORT (NAVY, & MARINES) on their actual support on Aceh.

Front Shocks, Lower Shock Mounting on Axle

Front Shocks, Pararel Arm Mounting on Axle

Front Shocks, Pararel Arm Mounting on Chasis

I think the shock mounting tab should be pararel to the AXLE, so that in FULL ARTICULATION, the shocks eye mount do not BIND ????

Any Comment ?

Why are you switching from SAW shocks to the Kings? They're both a damn fine product, or do you just need a different length?

Your front axle is upside down! haha, looks pretty good. How wide is the chassis?

Good Questions,
First, I need to play with a different lenght set-up,
Second, I am their "KING SHOCKS" distributors here in Jakarta, INDONESIA. Brett King (and Mike Eads) might be upset when they see me using other products....

I think the mounting tab on the axle should be parrallel to the axle tube. I did what you have there on my last buggy and it did bind. I suppose if you got the angle just right and depending on how much travel you had it might be ok but you'll have to articulate it to be sure.

Well well well, how did I ever came up with such an idea,...

I did the horizontal on my speed-off road, but since it does not articulate on one wheel, it it ok up to now.
I know that this buggy if for rock-crawling, and missed the horisontal tab mounting,....

Your point take,, and it is already on our modification list.

Looks very nice, thanks for sharing the pictures. I like how you build you link ends with the "V" notch. Looks like it gives you a lot more welding area.

Not sure about the heims. They may fail on you, but you can deal with that if it happens. Do be warned that if they do fail and the axle moves, the shock will bind and snap.

I'm really wondering what that front axle is.

Welcome.

Looks like you have a start to a really good project. A spreader over top of your head and a diagonal bar in the rear of the cage is all I could see with the vehicle. Keep posting. Dont pay attention to all knowing search haters!!

Doug B.

if you want to take any pics off of our site for your references feel free to do so. We dont have many but whats there is yours.
