I have seen the light....

We tried to get to the waterfall on Asylum today. Started at 8am, by 1pm we had done about 1/4 of the way to the waterfall and turned back Time to get serious I guess. We are talking about doing a two day expedition.

Hmmm, think I could compete?

Wait, let me answer that... Ummm, no. This was my first trip out with my Samurai after I bought it; pre-33x12.50's and pre-YJ springs. Awesome flex, huh? ~Steve

WOW Jeff...............what did you score? I'm guessing it was 300 on a 23 degree ramp I'll bet you loving the Wranglers under you rig about now. You ought to get a pic of your rig in the same spot with your new set up.

Yeah, it didn't flex for shiat! It made for quite an interesting ride, though. It flexes pretty awesome with those YJ's now.
I'd like to go back to that trail someday maybe, but it was really a waste; the trail was really boring. It was a trail we have never run and thought we'd give it a try. Turns out we drove for about 2-3 hours to get there and all it had was one rock garden that was only about 100-200 yards long. Other than that, it was just a rough dirt road. There's some pictures of the trail on my site if you want to see how "great" it was.
As always, awesome pics, Chris. Going wheeling tomorrow, so hopefully we'll get some decent pics. Yes, that's right, someone else is going to go wheeling and get some pics other than Chris. ~Steve

Gotta start somewhere. I got quite a few pics from my first year of wheeling in thr Zuk, they look just like that except I had 30" tires. Unfourtunately those are all photos and my scanner doesn't work with Win 2000. Was going to try taking digital pictures of the pictures and see how that turns out, but haven't had the time.

Also, from the title of the post - "I have seen the light..." I was expecting to hear that you'd bought a Toyota. *rib* *rib*

That trail blows away anything I have ever done. When are we going back? I wanna tackle those waterfalls.

Yeah, right! Then he'd have to hang out in the "new and improved" toy section, where no useful info gets posted anymore, just newbies getting flamed, and telling us that their new 44o44's just got delivered!

I know exactly what you mean. If it had been like this back when i joined up, I wouldn't have, more than likely.

I should be posting another "prodject DSI" post-pics-as-you-go style thread on my Toy in early march. Going from IFS, 4.10s, and a rear locker... To SAS with Kongs Hysteer, AllPro front springs, 36" TSLs, 5.29 gears and two lockers, and (probably) Chevy rear springs.

I got to drive a Toy on the trail on Saturday, well, just backed it up a few feet (in case anyone is wondering, his starter sticks). Don't know how you guys can manuever those things, I felt like I was in a battleship I've gotten a little used to a small 4x4... As for seeing the light, we saw what a hardcore trail was, everything else I have seen/done up to this point was seems insignificant.

Yeah, after seeing the additional pics you posted, I'd say that looks pretty hardcore! That last waterfall is downright intimidating!! Definitely get a lot of pics of the conquering of that one!!
