Tube Bender, how to make

I've lived just as long as I can stand with out a tube bender. I am so broke, and have lots of time and metal. I think the dies are worth buying, but the machine seems like a bad value. Don't get me wrong, the designer deserves payment, and by buying the dies he is paid what I can afford, and besides, comaaan. I don't want to knock off a product. I want to make my own representation of a tool, kind of like this one time, I made a spindle nut socket by cutting notches in the end of a tube. Know what I mean?

I have a picture in my mind of how it works, but the proportions of movement aren't defined. The very best thing would be a video of a bender in action. From a few angles, maybe? Please, I'll make a video of your choice*, in exchange for your effort. How about a clear picture of the components? I've never gotten more than a glimpse of one in the background of a few pictures and videos.

What's better, the paws of the ratchet around the die, or along the links? Does that make sense? How about, table saw blade style or hacksaw blade style? You know, like hot dog style, etc.

*I know what you're thinking, and it would be an uneven exchange. And no, that's not why. Video of your choice offer is only for the person who provides me with a video that demonstrates to me the mechanical action of a manual tube bender.

well, I happen to agree with you on the buying verses building
the machine,
I built mine, cut it out on the laser machine
bought the dies and pins, spent 60 bucks on a ram and called it done
not good with video , and not sure as to what vid's you have to offer
but do have the program saved on the machine,I think.
could possibly cut you out a couple of templates so you could make one

Maybe it is in Geargrinders search results, but there is a drawing linked here of a bender. I think it was Goat that posted it.

I have a prot tools bender hd model. If you want to be cheap and have no money then buy the die like you said you could afford. Then weld it to a heavy table. Then you can use your torch to heat it and bend it by hand.Or put some hardcore ass into it and bend it by hand.To me building was not a option when the damn bender is only like $390...that aint nothing to come up with really.
