'90 4runner suspension suggestions
yup.. i need some help here people.. i just bought a 1990 4runner and i'm gonna be building it up in the near future.. but i want to get some opinions, stock 4-link or 63" chevies in the rear?? which should i do.. don't have much money with the fixing and building of the truck so should i try to get new coils and arms and keep the 4-link? or should i just hack all that stuff off and throw some 63" chevy springs under it? i have a runner with the 63's and johnny joints and it treats me very well.. can the 4-link hold a candle to it?

Just for the simplicity I would go with the 63" Chevy's. Leaf springs are much less complicated than the four link setup. That is my .02 cents.

definitely swap to leafs, whether it be 63s or some other leaf... honestly, i don't think the 4-link toyota designed is a good platform to build off of. i mean, the upper links are so damn short... and to do a tringulated 4-link you would have to relocate the gas tank. look up TRD on here though... if you do want to link it, he did a 3-link on his pickup and kept the stock gas tank.

I'm doing leaf springs on my '91 runner SAS. It's really simple compared to a linked suspension, and cheaper. Just remember though, that these runner's rear ends are heavy compared to a truck, so keep that in mind when choosing a spring to run.
