Damn stickers!

I have tried everything, these stickers are baked onto my buggy over the rattle can paint job (which I wish didnt turn out so well). I have tried a lot of things, ironing, air craft paint remover, gasoline, mineral spirits, hot hot water, razor blades, peeling. The only other things I can think that may work better would be a grinder or a sander of some sort. I need to repaint this think black and Im not a fan of painting over stickers, even if the rig is ugly anyway. I HATE stickers

I bought a Truck a while back and it had some stickers on it that I wanted to take off.. My buddies daughter had some stuff she bought at Wal-Mart that was in a spray bottle that worked good.. I think it was in a silver looking spray bottle but I don't remember the name of it.. I just sprayed it on and let it soak in for a minute or 2 then took a razor blade and the sticker come right off..

use an eraser wheel at low rpms and you'll have it done in no time. Your local body and paint store should have them. Don't put the wheels on a die grinder, it spins way to fast!

1. Heat Gun
2. Bestine(silver can) or Rapid Remover (sign shop have this)
3. Rubbing alcohol
4. Patience
I've used this method for years in the vinyl business.
Works good for me.

I read an article in Popular Mechanics (Doctor's waiting room) that said if you spray household ammonia on the stickers and then cover them with plastic wrap it softens up the adhesive enough that you can peel them right off in a half hour or so. I can't confirm it works because I haven't had the opportunity to try it. It also discussed about 10 other ways of removing stickers from cars - 3M was mentioned. If you want more info, check the library, it was only a month or two old (Had a Flying car or something on the cover).

If you try it, please post how well it works.

Grease/wax remover

An automotive paint store should carry a quality grease/wax remover (for use before painting). This stuff works excellent for removing adhesive residue, at least as good as the drill mount eraser. I've tried thinner/reducer, alcohol, kerosine, a serious heat gun, and the drill mount eraser; the grease/wax remover we have in our shop works better than any of them.

Try metal stripper by Klean strip. You can get this at Lowes. This shit is pretty harsh so try not to get it on any sensitive skin, like the back of your hand or arms. It will burn pretty good. If you leave it on to long it will burn your skin leaving a sore. latex gloves sort of help but only if you are working with it shortly, it will eat those away pretty quickly. I have found some chemical gloves that sort of work but they make my hands feel all warm inside so I don't think they fully work. Just remember this will take most any other paint/residue off around it.

Most definately get a Vinyl Eraser that attaches to your drill.

We tried everything to remove the pinstriping off our 94 Wrangler. A friend of ours who paints vehicles for a livign (and removes old pinstriping) told us about the Erasers.

We bought 2 different erasers - one was an orange tougher material, and the other was a softer material. They're both kinda like an eraser material. As you rub this stuff on the sticker - it removes the sticker and leaves that 'eraser' residue. The eraser does wear down.....so if you have a large job, buy more of them.

It's awesome stuff!!

I've always used a hair dryer and a little patients. A few beers might help too.

Boys. Boys. Go ask your women for nail polish remover. Not the kind used for acrylic nails...the kind with acetone. That stuff will melt anything.
