Hey Stic,

I would say the trail was more challanging than before, seems the snow might of opened up some holes and moved some rocks.

Where are you guys going to camp? or are you planning on running it all the way through on sat? We should be at Swamp if you wanta stop by for a beverage or the night.

Thanks for the invite but since my friend is a Matco dealer he wouldn't be able to get the day off. I am also rushing to lay down tile and wood floors before I can do and wheeling. Maybe we can plan some other run in the near future, it's always good to place a face with a web name?

Looks more and more like the con but alot smaller. We plan on camping somewhere near a lake it all depends on how many people join and the traffic on the trail. We will be camping Sat, Sun, and heading out Mon.

We'll be getting in Thursday and Friday, Camping at a place off Dinky Creek, and doing Swamp on Saturday going east to west(don't feel like going down rooster). Took us 10hrs. last year. We didn't get back to camp till 9:30pm.
We'll probbaly come home Sunday night, or Monday morning.

I heard the Mosqietos are bad this year. What about campfires, are they allowing them?

Yeah we had campfires but you need to get a permit. We will be camping Thur night on dinky rd right by the signs which indicate what trails are open. We also will be running north to south.

We will be doing the same east to west as well but let me know because we will be leaving Bakersfield about 5 or 6am to be at the trail head by 7 or 8am. Maybe we can meet at the trail head?

25th - Thursday ->

A few buddies and myself will be hitting the Dusy on 8-25-05...
Plan on staying Thurs, Fri, and hopefully out Saturday...
We went there last year, got snowed on, and had to turn around...

Is Swamp Lake a day run, or two?

We did it in a day last year, and plan to do it in a day this year too. However we only had 4 trucks last year and looks to be about the same again this year.

yeah is north/south. take a look on a map and you will see what i am talking about.

actually here is a federal forestry map, take a look on page 2. also i check my gps reading too and they also showed me running north more than 75% of the time.

http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sierra/publi...rogs/swamp.pdf

hope that helps

We made it by 9am to the trailhead because we kinda got lost. At the first gate on 10S36 we didn't make the right turn and instead we went straite. But after backtracking at bit we were at the trailhead and the fun began.

I'll post some pictures later.
