Dog - Aggressive at first - smart & loyal!

This is not the dog for just anyone.

I have a great dog, but I have to warn you that you might not be able to pet her at first. Once she warms up to you, you will really love her. She is very smart, well trained, and LOVES playing fetch. Travels well, and will run along side your 4x4 or motorcycle for miles. Fully potty trained, etc. Gentle loving nature once she gets to know you, but it takes her a long time to get to know you. Anyone can play with her as long as they do not try to pet her on the head. Usually good with other dogs, but sometimes will pick fights if she thinks they are 'rude" (sniff her butt to much).

I do not recommend her for a family with kids. This is more of a guard dog with a friendly playful side. I have no fear of theft when she is on the property.

Now that I have warned you about her nature, here is some more info about her. She is a medium sized dog in great shape. I'd guess she is a Shpard/Rot mix. She is both smart and strong, and loves to be challenged and played with. She is about 5 years old, and had puppies before. She is now fixed. She is plenty happy to sleep at your feet, or play fetch. She knows her stay command very well, and will sometimes stay in position for an hour.

I adopted her from an old room mate that could not keep her. I thought I could make her into a great trail dog, but just can not get rid of that aggression she has towards strangers petting her and random violence with other dogs. She bit a friends dog this last weekend, and that was it.

She would make a great shop dog, or similar as long as you don't have a bunch of people that would want to pet her.

I hope someone here might be interested as I hate the idea of her going to a shelter. I'm sure they would put her down becuase of the aggression.

Thanks,

-Wayne

I'm really not overly fond of this particular mutt, but I'll admit she's really friendly and cuddly with those she knows. Very smart and surprisingly obedient, except for that pesky biting strangers that try to pet thing. Like Wayne said she'd make an awesome guard dog for a shop, or on a farm/ranch type of area where there aren't a lot of strangers around. BTW if you have a ball in your hand you're her best friend, and she'll chase a honda 50 til her paws are bloody stumps, and even then she'll limp after you. Thats actually my favorite game

does she go out of her way to bite strangers. or does she ignore em till they pay her attention? Does she warn them to not pet her, or reach out and get nailed unexpected by her?

Her basic MO is happy, and friendly as long as you ignore her. If you have a ball or stick she will fetch all day long, just dont try to pet. You can walk around her and do pretty much what ever you want and she'll be as happy and excited as you can imagine a dog being as long as she doesn't think you're trying to touch her. If you do, then she changes pretty quickly. I've worked a number of days around the shop with her walking around and between my legs with no problems, because I wont try to touch her. Once she warms up to you its a different story, happy and loving without the biting, that just takes a while.

fawking sounds like a walking trip to the hospital to me...

i say spend the cash to get her agression trained out or euthanize her...honestly, her personality will only degrade when she is removed from your presence.

my m-in-law has an agressive dog that has bitten her once and also is a fight picker....same deal...he is a great watch-dog but is muzzled and separated when company is over...that dog should have been put down a year ago...

don't think i don't like dogs, either, i have a 120lb lab-golden retriever mix...

good luck...i hope she can be adopted..

regards
brian

All jokes aside she looks like a fun dog, just make absolutely sure who ever takes her understands her "personality". We do live in a sue happy society.

Hmm, I posted an update the otherday, but looks like the issues here at Pirate ate it. Oh well, Dallas summed it up in a far shorter post.

If you are in the area (Orange County), come on over and take her for a walk. I think you will like her. If you want, you can take her home and see how she does. If you decide she is not the dog for you, just bring her back.
