How do wedding rings work...

Okay this is too easy - the engagement ring is the one you give her when you ask the will ya question, a solitaire is a type of engagement ring (it has only one stone), two piece sets are just that the engagement ring and the wedding ring in a set, three piece sets are the engagement ring and both wedding rings, wedding bands are wedding bands purchased separately to be used with solitaire engagement rings or for the dude.

1. Wedding ring = the ring slipped on the finger at the wedding
2. Engagement Ring = the ring (usually the Diamond) which is offered at the time of engagement... removed for the Wedding ring at the wedding but repaced and worn as a set.
3. Solitare is a ring with a single diamond.
4. 2 piece sets are matching wedding rings - His and Hers
... or ... a wedding and engagement ring which are a set
5. 3 Piece sets are 2 wedding rings and an engagement ring - all matching

watch out for the wraps too

they make "wedding rings" that interlock with the woman's engagement ring to make a really nice set. those can also be 2 or three piece sets in that there are three individual rings or an individual ring and a wedding ring that wraps around the engagement ring.

I agree with WertyzMom... I exchanged the rings 28 years ago and the love is still there... The rest of you guys must not be doing something right.

I did it the easy way, when were discussing marriage we would go to the mall and just happen to swing in to a jewelry store (usually under the guise of looking for a watch that I wanted - never got). Anyway, after 2 or 3 trips I got a sense of what style (metal, shape and setting) she really liked and the price range. I was then able to save up and buy one that she would like.

Piece of advice, save up as much as you can and buy the biggest diamond you can afford. If you get one of those little ones, a few years after your wedding you'll wish you had gotten more. It also helps if you can get into one of those whole sale jewelry shows, or somewhere else, where you can buy at dealer costs/wholesale price. There you should be able to buy at 1/2-1/3 of the appraised value. And also note that there is negotiating room, don't pay retail!!

Any decent jewelry store can give you literature on diamond quality. Here are some internet sites:

Google is your friend!

Did you hear the one about the man who asked the woman to marry him?

The woman said ,no............................................... ......................

And the man lived happily ever after.

And the man lived happily ever after.
Scenario 1:
Until he woke up one day and realized that he was now in his late 60s and chicks no longer dig him. Then, he wished that he had actually found himself a great wife while he still could...

Scenario 2:
All of his friends started doing things with their kiddos, and he never got to, so instead, he kept up the bravado and manly talk (you know, wearing all those gold chains, shirt unbuttoned down to there, and also procured an Italian sports car -- hung around high schools a lot) so that the chicks would still think he was cool, but they didn't, because they were looking for a family man...

Scenario 3:
Realized that all that hard manly living only got him 3 types of STD's that were incurable and he has no one to visit him in the hospital...

Scenario 4:
He gets some age-related disease and has no one around that he trusts to wipe his heiney...

OR

The proper scenario...

He married his high school sweetheart, they had a couple of great kiddos, who later married great girls because they saw dear old dad doing right by mom all those years. They in turn have a couple of really cool grandkids apiece. He and his bride still hold hands and mess around in their 60s like teenagers, embarrassing the kids while on vacation together (thanks little blue pill), but they know and CHERISH the fact the he and mom are still so in love... and hope their own marriages turn out that way (which statistics say is a great probability, seeing as how they had such a positive role model!).
