Discs on an FJ45 SWB

Doing some research on putting discs on a 65 FJ45 SWB. Ive gotten a few conflicting responses. Hopefully I can get a little input here. Ive been told:
1) no one makes a disc kit for early axles
2) a man-a-fre kit will fit but not with the original wheels
3)I can swap in mini truck stuff with later welded (instead of riveted) rims
4)fitting a later fj axles is the best way to go.

Theres a local guy with a cheap man-a-fre kit which would be convienent if that would work.
-Thanks

discs

looked at the disc conversion links, nothing really addressed anything pre '70. Saw no info on the early rims either. Are there significant differences between the early and late axles? Did I just miss it?

Hey Leafsprung.....
Dont't bother with the early ball and claw stuff or that drum to disk conversion. that stuff is weak. Get a newer housing and either mini truck outers or, better yet, FJ60 or 62 outers.
I have a 45 with 4WDB using mini truck stuff in front and GM stuff in the rear. The stock rivited wheels would not clear the RDB. It was not the rivits hitting, it was the shape of the center section. I now have the late model stock rims and they clear front and rear easily.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks

Apprieciate the response. That certainly gives me a little better idea of which direction to go. I will post up some pics of this 45 soon, its a good original. Your 45 is pretty sweet. Thanks again.
