Flat Lisa goes to SOUTHERN Maryland

Q up the Banjo's.. Scott, is that you playing in the band??

This is pretty much as the kid's will see it when they get the book.. Corey and I took Lisa to the Calvert Marine Museum and enjoyed the day.

Start the show!

Lisa had a wonderful trip after visiting Bev & Gil down to see Corey and I. We decided to visit the Calvert Marine Museum. We were in for quite a shock because they had SO much to look at and do. Lisa wasn’t scared a bit because she wanted to see it all, I however took one look at this HUGE shark and was shaking in my boots!

Here’s Lisa standing where I would not!

Lisa then made friends with an Osprey. This is also known as the Fish Hawk that hunt fish by flying overtop the water waiting for a chance to catch the BIG ONE!

Here we learned that you could also catch fish with a trap even if it’s made of wood.
Fish would swim into the trap and shortly later become dinner on a plate. Mmmm
Yummy fish.

A long time ago the boats that took you fishing only moved by air and they where a sail boat.
But first they had to make the sails by using this really BIG sewing machine. Lisa thought it would be nice to make a new dress before coming back to see you all but was running out of time and wanted to see a lot more of this great nation.

Next Lisa made a new friend named Jim. Back in 1950 Jim was in the Coast Guard and it was his job to stay in this lighthouse to keep it working. This was his lighthouse that you see behind him. A lighthouse was very important then because it kept the fishermen from running their boats on the shores. You may have already seen a lighthouse from where you live!

We were off to see the lighthouse and Lisa told me to STOP because she spotted something beautiful in the marshy grass. It was a mother Swan that had a nest full of eggs

While in the lighthouse Lisa learned that on a foggy night the bell would ring every 15 seconds.
This was for the fishermen to hear where the land was since they couldn’t see in the fog. She wondered how could anyone sleep so she asked the tour guide and she said they didn’t.

The living quarters looked very comfy and Lisa said a short nap would do her good but it’s time to go because there’s things to see.

Lisa found out that a little girl named Anna Ewalt was born in this lighthouse. She lived there with her family for a long time and loved it. Lisa thought it would be neat to live in a lighthouse.

We finally made it to the top where you could see all of the fishing boats. It was beautiful and Lisa liked it very much.

Lisa wanted to see these boats up close so we came down out of the lighthouse to see what we could find. It didn’t take long to find this Box Stern boat that would dredge for clams.

Lisa had a chance to take the helm of the boat but she wished that it could be for real sailing the Seven Sea’s. Ahrrr Mate’s FULL STEAM AHEAD!

Lisa then made friends with two very nice little girls named Rachel and Erica. They liked her pretty dress and fashionable shoes. They wanted to show me the Otter tank and how they liked to swim. The Otters where so funny splashing about and having fun, I will miss my new friend for they were very nice to me.

OK kid’s Lisa will be sailing on her way back to you all REAL soon but she couldn’t resist wanting to take another boat ride. Be sure to put on that life preserver it may save your life!

Lisa was fast asleep preparing for her next adventure
