Just got a wedding invitation...

For Monday, July 3rd.

Who gets married on a Monday? It's a work day, and the wedding is at 2 pm. Reception is 4-midnight. Family is from India, so I guess they just do things differently.

I'll be in MN, so I won't be able to go, but it just struck me as odd.

Yeah, I know, but getting married on a holiday weekend alone seems strange to me, let alone a Monday.

Maybe they are doing it this way because they know that everyone will have the next day off to recover from any shenanigans that occur during the reception.

People that don't plan their wedding far enough in advance, end up getting married on a Monday cause that's the only day still available. Sounds like a shotgun wedding to me... or maybe an RPG wedding in this case. Er, I mean THAT'S NOT FUNNY!

Getting married on a weekday friday or monday is so much cheaper than on a Saturday or Sunday. Maybe this is their way of saving money and since it's a holiday weekend they'll make a big family party out of the whole weekend ? Since they're from India they might have traditions that take a couple of days for a wedding and this just worked out perfect for them.

indian weddings ARE week-long events. indian hottie at work was just bitching about having to use a week of vacation for a cousins wedding.

hmm, all this talk of holiday weddings sucking is kinda worrying me, I have been planning on Dec. 28, mostly because we are in different states, and i already wanted to go home for christmas. oh yeah, and its a thursday, thats a good day for it right?

plus i figured it would be easier to get family there.

would we end up getting a bunch of shitty gifts due to christmas being so close? anything else im not thinking about?

My b-day is on the 29th of Dec. you'll either get a christmas gift, or a wedding gift, but most likely you'll get your wedding gift on christmas. Since you're probably going to register someplace, your woman will get exactly what she wants you both to have as her Christmas/wedding gifts and you'll get to help her unwrap them. Welcome to married life.
