I'm 14 again! AKA Happy bday MTV

25 years since MTV came into, and wrecked my life. Thanks MTV!

VH1 classic is shoping the whole first day right now.

I want to sue MTV for false advertizing, it should be renamed "stupid teenage oriented reality tv show TV" however STORTSTV is not quite as catchy as MTV

They need to bring back Remote Control, keep The Real World, and dump everything else and start over.

Holy cow. And that was when Rod Stewart sucked.

However, he is forgiven because he has bagged so many models.

If MTV acted its age, it would be watching VH1.

SNL joke from a couple years ago.

My grand parents were the only people I knew that had cable back in the early eighties. Summer vacation at their place alternated between their pool and the TV room.

There were not enough videos to air so they dredged up all the psychodelic concert footage they could find. Jimi, Creme, Who, Pin Floyd. Complete with the lava lamp projections behind the bands. I wish I had that stuff on DVD. It definitely was a formative part of my youth

Like mah man Henry Rollins says, "That's not the Eighties I remember".

Black Flag
SRV
Fear
Talking Heads
TSOL
Circle Jerks
Agent Orange
The Jam

There wern't many videos of those bands on MTV.

Between the below faggots and Soft Cell, MTV was never on at my "Pad".

Ohhh this was pre-softcell. Actually they had some Specials, and Elvis Costello on, but most of it was REO Speedwagon and Styx yesterday. Thinking about it

I forgot to add The Specials and The English Beat to my list, as well as Elvis.

I was working in a record store the summer that High Infidelity and Paradise Theater came out, and they switched back and forth for number 1 and 2 in the Billboard charts, all summer long. I hated both of those albums from the start, but there were always hot chicks coming in to buy them, so it was a love / hate type of thing.

end of story.

REMOTE CONTROL was the beginning of the slippery slope..and THE REAL WORLD was the splash when the MTV turd hit the toilet water.

by the time THE REAL WORLD was on, MTV was a joke told amongst college buddies over bong hits .

everything since has been the assorted pieces of food that reconsitute themsleves as the truds fall aprt in the rotating and rising water while you frantically push the lever hoping the whole mess finally gets sucked into oblivion.

The only good things on MTV were Headbangers Ball, The Young Ones, and the 1993 Spring Break coverage... Swimsuits were just outta control on that one.

Only thing MTV needs is all metal videos and bevis and butt head. Then I could stomach watching it.

I didn't have cable growing up but one of my friends did back in the late 80 or when Pump up the Jam came out. But when I had cable I didn't watch MTV at all but now since I almost 30 I do watch it time to time when nothing else is on TV. I have really hit rock bottom by watching MTV.

One the other hand I love VH1
