That's going to leave a mark - A bit long

So Nathan and I are doing a little landscaping around the yard. We’re taking down some ugly stuff from the front of the house. For this job we’re using the tractor from the farm and a large car hauler trailer. Well apparently on the first unloading, the trailer’s jack broke off partly. While loading the trailer the second time apparently that same jack broke off completely. So Nathan is trying a couple of things to get the trailer lifted to get it mounted back onto the ball hitch of the tractor. One of them is a Hi-Lift jack. (I bet you all know what’s coming next) The Jack got the trailer off the ground he moved the tractor back under the trailer and ready for the trailer to come back down. Well the handle snapped back with such force that Nathan went flying back, his glasses when off in one direction and his hat in another. He landed on the ground near the house about 5 feet back. I wasn’t sure what just happened. I my mind I thought it was his hands being smack between the handle and the main part of the jack. So I go over to him, he is holding his face. I see blood and ask him if it was his nose. He lifted his hand and said it was his chin. Luckily he was awake. I grabbed a towel and a baggie of ice and tried to stop the bleeding. I asked if he could get up. He didn’t want to at this point. He asked me to call his uncle. So I called Will, they were on their way over. I kept asking if he was able to get up, still didn’t want to. What seemed like forever, in reality was about 20 minutes Will and Deneane arrive with the Tahoe. They brought more ice and another towel. Nathan was then able to get up with some help. They put down the back seat of the Tahoe and off we went to the ER. While at the ER checking in Nathan realizes that his pistol is in his pocket. We got that out into one of the cars without being known. While in our little exam room, I got him some more ice. The “bag” the nurse gave me looked like a big maxi pad with strings hanging off the side. So, trying to make light of it all, I tied a little bow on top of his head. He looked like one of those cartoons with a tooth ache. (We have a picture of it on Deneane’s phone. I’m trying to get this picture. ) They numbed it with some Zap (sp?), then some Novocain. The doctor didn’t look at his eyes or ask him any questions, like “do you have a headache ? ” He ended up with a cut on his chin that required 4 stitches. He said that when it happened he thought he was going to pass out. He is a little sore today, and a little swollen. But he is fine. We’re both lucky it wasn’t worse. Posting pic once I get it.

glad he's ok.

I've seen someone get a face smack from a highlift before. Luckily for him it didn't break the skin but when I met up with him some 13yrs later last year that was the first thing he brought up

I bet Nathan is going to like like every color in the rainbow by the end of the week.

Did they even ask him in the ER if his neck hurt?? Hard enough hit to the chin can have impact to the neck.

Nope apparently this was the doc's 2nd shift at this hospital. He just let the nurses take care of everything. Nathan and the doc were talking about fishing while he was being sewn up.

When my son split his head open the doctor told us if you don't lose consciousness it's no biggie. We were worried about the whole, "don't let them fall asleep deal." like they always told us when we were kids. The doc said their rule of thumb is that if you don't lose consciousness you didn't get hit hard enough for a concusion so they don't worry about it.

ok... how many times does it have to be said.

Keep your head out from between the highlift and it's handle.
