Either you need to pay your ho's more, or even better, maybe you should have the ho's giving you rusty trombones instead of building you computers

it's the electrons. they're wearing out.

those 64 bit machines use them twice as quickly as the 32 bit ones

Find a program called CCleaner. That program is awesome. If it is not needed for the computer to run right, it deletes it (Excluding games and applications and whatnot)

Chances are you have a bunch of spyware from visiting all of those porn sites. And what Mo said.

Somewhat OT...my Comcast has sucked the last month or so, with frequent intermittent drops. They've been out once & replaced some rusty outside connections etc. but the problem is still on our street. I can't be home during their "windows" and I'm tired of it. So, much as I used to hate Sprint I've decided to try Embarq's internet. It's cheaper; I have a landline already and I'll get back the calling package I had before for nothing; it's included in the basic price.
Does anybody have any feedback on it?
Pip

I'm on comcast currently and its been really slow lately.

Try cycling (unplug and plug back in) the modem for a minute or two and see if that changes anything.

I've had it with comcast and i'm getting Verizon FiOS service next week!

Cable is a pooled resource by regions (neighborhoods). The more people on in your neighborhood, the slower your's will be. SInce they've begun offering VOIP (phone service) it's all gone to shit b/c the switches can't handle the traffic (they're failing). That's been the story with charter cable anyway, comcast is likely in the same boat.

DSL is different b/c of the nature of the difference b/w cable and phone lines. You are alotted a certain BW direct to the ISP so the service won't have a peak as fast as cable, but it won't have a valley like cable either (when a bunch of people are killing it). The cable companies will get it picked up by installing new switches and upgrading their gear, downsizing their regions, etc., but until then, it's just going to suck.

I saw where they just completed that in a couple of test markets. I didn't realize that Redmond was one. I knew of NY.

Do you work for MS? Have we met?

Yep, that is exactly it. When cable was a big secret, it was smoking fast, then everyone heard it was faster than dsl, switched, and then pfft.
